The oratory and vision with which their new-found primarch expounded to them his designs for the future and the righteousness of the Great Crusade filled the Legiones Astartes with a renewed vigiour and dispelled any shadows of doubt in their minds, and made Guilliman's takeover, according to official records, all but seamless. Space Port on Archimedon (Unknown Date.M41) - The world of Archimedon was the place where a major engagement of the Avenging Sons' 3 rd Company unfolded. Their mission was to defend a spaceport on the planet. However, after the battle turned against them, they destroyed the spaceport themselves rather than let it fall into enemy hands. The Chapter Master of the time disagreed with this course of action, but he did not formally punish the company. The 3 rd Company suffered substantial losses in this battle, including their Chaplain (who was replaced afterwards by Chaplain Herdain) and these losses helped to prime the company for the betrayal of the Emperor they would carry out on the world of Helmabad. Guy: For me, it’s the way we’ve tried to get it all to connect up. Although Dawn of Fire will be a separate series, and we’ve made a noticeable effort to make it accessible and understandable to all readers, it has ties into all manner of current Warhammer 40,000 fiction. It has some interesting links with my Dark Imperium, Blood Angels and Belisarius Cawl novels, and with Chris Wraight’s Terran-set Inquisitor and Adeptus Custodes books. The numeric strength of the Ultramarines Legion, in excess of 250,000 Astartes, would be an achievement that would not be surpassed, though in secrecy the late expansion of the Word Bearers, who originally numbered approximately 100,000 Astartes, would come to rival them by some assessments, while the wilder claims as to the strength of the Alpha Legion also have them run closer than official records would indicate.
