About this deal

With the ZAGG Pro Stylus, you have the familiar cylindrical shape of the Apple Pencil, but there is also a flat edge, just like the second-generation Pencil. The size is also very similar. This makes it much more comfortable to hold in the hand while using, and it won't roll around on a flat surface. The flat side also means you get a perfect fit when magnetically attaching it to the side of your iPad, though this only works with the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. However, the Pro Stylus works with the regular 10.2-inch iPad, 10.9-inch iPad Air, and iPad mini 5. So no matter which iPad you're using, the ZAGG Pro Stylus will work. Different styluses offer different levels of pressure sensitivity (as do different tablets). Styluses with 2,048 distinct levels of pressure sensitivity are fairly common, but some offer as many as 8,192. Apple is notably quiet about how many levels its Pencil can detect, though it's clearly quite a few.

All these features are great to have, and fairly essential if you're planning on using your iPad stylus for digital art. They do add to the cost, however, and aren't necessary if you're only going to use your iPad stylus for note-taking and general navigation. Can a stylus damage an iPad? When time comes for a recharge, plug a USB-C cable into this accessory. The necessary charging cable is included, but iPad Pro owners can use the one that comes with their tablet. Scribble is one of the best new features in iOS 14, and the Pro Stylus fully supports it.The end of the stylus is a capacitive tip that requires no power and can even be used with an ... [+] iPhone. Brad Moon Should you consider the Logitech Crayon over the Apple Pencil (USB-C)? Absolutely, but perhaps only in limited circumstances. I’d generally recommend the Apple Pencil (USB-C) over the Logitech Crayon, especially given the price point and the more seamless native integration with iPadOS, but if you need the more durable aluminum body or the ability to choose between Lightning or USB-C charging methods, then Logitech’s stylus might be the way to go. You can expect to get 7 hours of use with the Logitech Crayon; it automatically shuts off after 30 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life, helping you to get the most out of it in a days’ work. Logitech also promises up to 30 minutes of use from just two minutes of charging. Palm rejection: With palm rejection, you can rest your hand comfortably on the surface of the tablet while you're drawing without it impacting on your work, just as you would a piece of paper. Without it, the tablet may get confused with the multiple input signals. If you're planning to spend long sessions drawing, a stylus with palm rejection will make things much more fluid and comfortable. Compatible with Apps that Support Apple Pencil: Use the Pro Stylus 2 with your favorite apps that support Apple Pencil.

I put the Pro Stylus though a gauntlet of tests. Writing fast or writing slow, there’s never a noticeable delay in digital ink appearing on the screen. There’s no skipping, where the line disappears. And palm rejection when using an active stylus is built into iPadOS, so don’t worry about hovering your hand over the screen. As far as basic writing goes, Zagg’s product is as good as an Apple Pencil. The Logitech Crayon competes directly with the core features of the Apple Pencil (USB-C) by offering features like palm rejection, which detects when your hand is touching the tablet’s screen at the same time as the stylus tip and ignores those touches, and tilt sensitivity, which adjusts stroke widths in your drawings based on the angle of your stylus. Even if you aren’t font of charging your stylus on the side of your iPad or iPad Pro, the ZAGG Pro Stylus 2 can charge wirelessly over Qi with the included wireless charging cradle with built-in battery level indicator or with any other Ai wireless charger, which may help users who hate having things hanging off the side of their tablet to manage their accessories more effectively. The original Apple Pencil works with iPadPro 12.9-inch (first and second generation), iPadPro 10.5-inch, iPadPro 9.7-inch, iPad (sixth generation to ninth generation) and iPad mini fifth generation. It can all get a bit confusing, so to compare the two styluses, see our guide to Apple Pencil vs Apple Pencil 2 where we cover in detail the differences between the two models, as well as their various compatibilities. What makes a good iPad stylus? Both the Pro Stylus and the Apple Pencil are cylinders with a flat edge. They include magnets that let them cling to the top edge of an iPad Pro. This is so convenient — there’s never a question of where to put the stylus down. Unlike Apple’s accessory, though, Zagg’s doesn’t charge while attached to the iPad Pro. It has a USB-C port. (More on this later.) Not only are the above features not found on the Apple Pencil (USB-C), but they’re also not found on any of the third-party alternatives discussed above. For this reason, anyone wanting any of those features should splurge on the Apple Pencil 2 instead. Conclusion
