Buzz asks Sox if there is a possible way to disarm the traps, but Sox is unable reach the controls that can help him deactivate the traps, leading the four to slam their cone into the control after Buzz keeps the door open, although they are unable to disarm the traps; Buzz and his allies (who are all in the same cone) managed to slam the control very hard while the door is still open, albeit pressure they put causes a part of the platform carrying part of the building to collapse. Just as the part of the building collapses, Buzz tosses Sox onto Izzy's hand to help protect him just as Buzz manages to retrieve the coil and escape the collapsing part of the building.

Andrew Stanton, who served as the executive producer of Lightyear, previously voiced Zurg in Toy Story 2, to which Zurg himself is voiced by James Brolin in this film. Sox is Buzz’s personal companion and provides the humor throughout the movie. Initially, the space ranger doesn’t want to deal with the cat, but the pair ends up developing a close bond. The cat proves himself to be extremely useful, resourceful and very loyal. Sox is even instrumental in helping Buzz get a good night’s sleep, apparently suggesting playing peaceful sounds like whale and white noises to help the space ranger sleep. Sox may have been inspired by Chris Evans’ dog. The film is rated PG by the MPA, unlike the main films of the Toy Story franchise which were rated G. This is the ninth and final Pixar film to feature the full 2011 Disney opening logo as a closing logo after Finding Dory, Cars 3, Coco, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, Soul, Luca, and Turning Red.

On The Ellen DeGeneres Show that May, Tom Hanks said that Toy Story 4 would be the final installment in the franchise, but producer Mark Nielsen disclosed a possibility of a fifth film, as Pixar was not ruling out that possibility. But that moment was not the only scene stealer for Sox, as he also helped to close out the trailer by offering to help Buzz fall asleep with a wide range of sound effects. And while Buzz chooses white noise, the two say good night to each other before the robotic cat opens his mouth to give him the white noise he requested. It was weird and wonderful all in one moment. A crate resembling WALL-E in his cube-shaped body can be seen outside of the abandoned hangar where Buzz and Sox go in to find a new ship.
