Choosing the right magnification for your desired uses is also extremely important as it affects the way a binocular performs in a whole host of different ways. How about 30-160x70? This example is taken from the Sunagor 30-160x70 BCF Mega Zoom Binoculars. It has a range of magnification (sometimes referred to as zoom binoculars) 30-160x, and thus the power can be adjusted anywhere between 30 times and 160 times. It is for this reason that astronomy binoculars tend to have very large 50mm, 70mm or even 100mm diameter lenses. Bushnell H20 8x25Impressive specifications for a very reasonable price, including multi-coating (though not fully multi-coated) and BaK-4 roof prisms. ★★★½ The centre focusing wheel was smooth and simple enough to use, as you would expect. They have comfortable rubber eyecups, which are not adjustable and you cannot fold down with 13mm eye relief, which cannot be described as long eye relief, but should be fine for most users. The exterior is made from a soft rubber armour, which is really comfortable to hold and should protect the binoculars from any small bumps and accidental drops as well as dirt and dust. I really liked the way the binoculars were really comfortable to hold up to they eyes, especially with one hand. Why Porro PrismThese binoculars offer a wider field of view than you might expect from an 8x compact model, with a 6.8-degree field of view. They use K9 glass, which is of good quality (though less expensive than BaK 4 glass), along with roof prisms that have a phase correction coating. This makes them great for people who wear glasses, thanks to their adjustable eyecups. They're also designed to prevent fogging from the inside due to nitrogen filling and are waterproof according to IPX7 standards, meaning they can stay submerged in water for up to 30 minutes. This is reassuring if you plan to use them near water, like on a boat or at a lake or beach. Thus even if we take the “largest compact” with 28mm lenses and combine it with a relatively low power, say 8x, you still only achieve an exit pupil of 3.5mm (28÷8). In normal daylight conditions most people’s pupils tend to measure around 3mm in diameter, so, in these conditions, exit pupils much larger than 3mm are not really necessary as the extra light does not pass into your eyes. FOV stands for Field-of-view, and it is the same as vision. The magnification of binoculars is used to determine the width of the image. They are optical instruments that allow us to peer into the distance. Lippers, from Middelburg, invented the first Dutch binoculars in 1608. The magnification of binoculars is determined by the position of two identical telescopes mounted next to each other, and they are aligned to point in the same direction. The prisma in these files ensure that the image is raised correctly. The diameter of the light reflected in the eyepiece is referred to as the exit pupil.
Instruments with lenses around 30mm to 32mm are considered a mid-sized instrument slightly favor portability over the light gathering ability. So whilst they are perfectly fine for use during the day, they are not the ideal choice in very low light. You can also have too much of a good thing with the binoculars supplying your eyes with more light than they need. The main purpose of binoculars is to allow you to see a distance object more clearly by making them look larger as if you were seeing them from much closer. My “8x” binocular makes the object I am looking at appear eight times larger than it would if I look at it with just my eyes (unaided).

We were particularly impressed by the contrast offered by these binoculars, even when viewing the illuminated side of the moon. Their lightweight build also meant that we barely noticed holding them and experienced almost none of the shake that can affect your view on heavier models. If you're mainly targeting the closer objects in the night sky, these will certainly give you a beautiful view, but more serious astronomers may need something more powerful. If you're having a hard time deciding between the easier-to-hold 8x magnification and the more detailed 10x magnification for closer views, especially when observing the moon and planets, there's a middle ground — 9x magnification. It combines many advantages of both options.
