About this deal

My search proved in vain as l could not come up with any posts to do with RC1 or WR1. I went to bed with an extra duvet at that point.

Hi.... I have recently had a problem with my central heating timer and suspect it is the wireless receiver unit which has either failed or has a loose wire but would value opinions if anyone could offer advice... Next, Paul started on the boiler. He identified that my boiler was fitted with a 13amp mains fuse, and promptly changed this for a 3amp fuse (a nice touch), then worked to disconnect the wired connection from the boiler to the wall thermostat.

I came home last night at 00:30 and found the display had died and after spending 15mins working out how to replace the batteries l then spent till 2am browsing the web to find out how you get the two units to talk to one another. Random button pressing was not working!!! Looking at the manual it says that its max temp it should heat to (internally I guess) is 80 degrees C which makes sense. Boiler is displaying 58 on the front of its display as I type, but if I feel inlet vs outlet they really seem to feel much cooler and the radiators are all tepid. If I hit boost on the hive unit it comes on briefly and then turns itself off when the display on the front hits 79. (which makes sense) but again if you feel the pipes its clearly not that. On my old system I would have to force it to override to bring it up to the mark, but that was also subject to the boiler just turning off... Sometimes it will run and heat the house, other times like now it yo yo's up and down never really getting the place warm other than with the first cycle of the day. I would have thought it should be monitoring the return feed for this but that is the subject for another day and another post. The Energy Saving Trust recommends that your thermostat should be set to between 18°C and 21°C. Programming your schedule We'll be adding further updates on how we're finding Remote Heating Control. Given that we're not exactly having a warm summer in the UK, we suspect we'll be needing to make more use of our home's heating in the coming months, so let's see how we get on. Related Links:

Remove the batteries and replace them with fully charged ones – the Hive Thermostat takes 4 AA batteries, while the Hive Thermostat Mini takes 4 AAA batteries Make sure both battery compartments are out on the 'Wireless Display' and the screen has gone blank, takes about 2 mins to fade It’s easy to set a schedule on the award-winning Hive app. Just go to ‘Heating’ and tap ‘Schedule’ at the top of the screen, then choose the days and times you’d like to set. You can change your schedules whenever you like. Fit a proper thermostat, one that will keep working. And if you can't diy, have anyone but BG do it. Setup is fairly straightforward - the Hub had been pre-linked to our British Gas account, and we have to enter the Hub Key and create a 4 digit PIN. The process took a few minutes, and the British Gas engineer was prepared to do this, although I was keen to do the set-up for myself. The set-up routine performed a scan for connected devices, and found our new kit with no problem.

Problem with British Gas Smart Linked Thermostat

Anyone have any ideas what the issue could be? Failing that is there a way to switch the display screen on both? Don’t really want to get a heating engineer out if an easy fix. I have also had problems, not with same model of wireless thermostat, but it did have me pulling my hair out trying to work out what was going on, until the fault got to a very bad stage. I have seen other posts regarding issues with these units but they don't seem to be quite the same as my problem.
