About this deal

It’s possibly better aimed at those with a small garden looking for an easy life, rather than anyone wanting a perfect lawn. No robot mower is good at creating neat edges up to every type of boundary but this model won’t even do a perimeter lap to straighten everything off. I really appreciated the ease with which it gets up and running, though.

All connectors used in repairing or connecting extra lengths of boundary wire must be of the type supplied in the box (no chocbox connectors) and they should be fully clamped shut with pliers Like most robot mowers the L10 uses three small blades to cut the grass and they did a decent job. But – there’s always a but isn't there – the mower uses a random pattern which we found confusing. And, if we didn’t leave running long enough it missed small patches of grass. The first time we left it running for 30 mins to get the lawn in a decent state. For consecutive cuts we dropped the cutting height to 20 mm and ran for about 15-20 mins. Think about the number of obstacles you have in your garden. The cheapest robot lawn mowers may struggle to mow complex lawns, while more advanced models will be better able to handle obstacles, awkward shaped lawns and different zones. If you have an obstacle on your lawn, you can run the perimeter wire out to, and around the obstacle to tell the L10 where not to mow. Just be sure to run the perimeter wire less than 1cm apart leading out to the obstacle to ensure that the robotic mower ignores this stretch of the wire and mows over it.Robot lawn mowers have been in the public sphere for over five decades, yet they’re still thought of as futuristic! Those at the higher price end are usually quieter with more high-tech features, although they aren't all necessary for a clean-cut lawn. Where to buy robotic lawn mowers The boundary wire ends are not stripped too thin - leave plenty of wire core to connect to the terminals There’s a button on the control panel which you can press after popping the mower down in whichever area needs touching up. It’ll then use a spiral pattern to trim any longer bits of grass and ensure a uniform finish over the whole lawn. Cutting Pattern Charging your LawnMaster VBRM16 takes barely any time at all. Simply attach it to the charger, plug it in and it’ll be ready in around one hour! Navigation System

Instead of being guided by a wire, the mower uses a camera mounted on the front of the device to scan the lawn in front of it. If it sees a surface that isn’t grass, it turns round and heads off in a different direction. Because of this it doesn’t need a perimeter wire or a charging station – when it’s cut enough you simply switch it off and put it away. The battery is removable and is charged in a separate charging unit. The LawnMaster VBRM16 is a robot mower that is simple in its design and operation but doesn’t scrimp on performance. If you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank and will be a cinch to setup and use, then this is a mower I would highly recommend. Main Features The boundary wire is the only guidance they have, and they will move around your garden for a set period or until they need to return to their base station for a recharge. Three sharp blades cut the grass well and are really easy to replace when needed. (Image credit: Steven Jenkins) How well does the LawnMaster L10 cut?Robomow RX12U is unique because it doesn’t have the common three-wheel movement. Instead, it has two wheels and a glider that provides you with better maneuverability. Such an arrangement gives it much more freedom and hence it’s one of the best robotic lawn mowers for complex areas. As I mentioned, I tried this machine out on my 100m² front lawn and within three hours, it had as good as completed the entire thing with power to spare. Typically, you’ll get around four hours out of a single charge, but this does depend on the conditions such as whether there are any slopes or how bumpy the ground is.

The LawnMaster L10 is an incredibly versatile little robot machine and offers several features that ensure mowing is effective and reliable. If you plan on running this lawnmower on a lawn that’s used by young children or pets, you have nothing to worry about – its safety features are fantastic . The blades stop running if the lawnmower is lifted or tilted and, if the mower does happen to run into you, the bump is extremely gentle and won’t cause any pain. The fact that you need to enter a pin code before you can actually do anything with the mower helps to keep it safe from thieves too. Apparently, the Gardena 19115-28 Smart Sileno Life Set Robotic Lawnmower is so quiet that you can't even hear your lawn being mowed. Some of this comes from the comparatively sparse box. Where most robots are supplied with charging stations, pegs and rolls of boundary wire, the VBRM16’s accessories are minimal. There is a charger for the battery but it’s a standalone device about the size of a tub of margarine, which can be stored anywhere and plugged in as needed. The removable battery is also in the box and needs charging before the mower’s first use. All you need to do is charge the battery (using the fast 1 hour charger provided), and put the mower on the lawn once or twice a week during the day time. It can only be used on dry days, and it does need to be manually placed on the lawn, but once down it’ll mow in a random pattern for up to 4 hours, until the entire lawn has been mowed. For a neater finish, use the spot cut function on any uncut grass.Key specs – Size: 425 x 350 x 220mm (WDH); Weight: 6.6kg; Cutting height: 20-60mm; Maximum lawn size: 100m²; Maximum incline: 35%; Replaceable battery: Yes It’s been designed for lawns up to 600 m² in size and can conquer gradients up to 35 %. Once set up, it simply gets to work. The instructions are clear and it’s easy to adjust the cutting height. Choose from heights ranging from 20 mm to 60 mm. You should also think about the slope . Most mowers are designed to handle a certain level of slope, and no steeper. If you’ve got a slope in your garden, ensure your mower is able to accommodate it. Most robot lawn mowers can handle slopes at a gradient of between 20% and 35%.
