About this deal

Wooden floor cleaners come in screw-top bottles or spray bottles. We think it's easier to have a screw-top bottle, especially if you have a spray mop, but if you want to use it to clean wooden furniture too, then it's handy to have a spray bottle. Key details – Size: 1L; Suitable for: All hard floors, kitchen and bathroom (excluding waxed or oiled wood) Don’t use any cleaning agents on oiled floors. Simply damp mop them with plain warm water and leave to dry. Not only can this floor cleaner revive old-looking wood floors, but it also works wonders on wood furniture, doors, wall and ceiling paneling too.

Out of 16 different mops we tested, we loved that it had a thoughtful design made specifically for—you guessed it!— hardwood floors, and the fact that it comes with the very same Bona solution we raved about above, and named best eco-friendly hardwood floor cleaner. Routine maintenance for wood flooring is fairly simple. According to Miller, you should sweep with a broom or microfiber mop daily to prevent debris from scratching the floors, use a vacuum (on the bare floor setting) once a week or as necessary, and clean monthly with a professional wood floor-cleaning product.

Note: Don’t use these products on oiled or waxed floors. Use a specialised cleaner for oiled, lacquered or waxed wood floors. Another thing to consider is which products work best with the floor cleaning appliances you might already have. For example, a powder-based cleaner works well in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner, as these products can be laid over carpets and then vacuumed up. How often should I clean my floors and how much cleaner will I need?

For older wooden floors, a top seal created by oil or wax, which is absorbed by the grain until it hardens, is the most common finish.

Best way to clean hardwood floors

If you've not got much storage space for cleaning products, it's best to avoid products that come in huge bottles. Also, we suggest trying a product before purchasing a huge bottle in case it's not for you. The majority of wooden floor cleaners on our list are 500ml to one litre. For wood floors, tiles and similar, a multipurpose cleaner can save you time, money and mental energy, allowing you to whizz through the whole house with just a single product. However, if you want to keep your hardwood floors and stone in premium condition, then a product designed specifically to clean and care for these surfaces could be a worthwhile investment. For these types of floors, using a floor mop and specialised floor spray is safe. However, regular maintenance to prevent issues in the first place is better than fixing them after the fact. Older wooden floors

Harsh chemicals and even fragrances have the power to wear down the finish of your wood floor's natural shine and value. Cordless cleaners give you the freedom to move from room to room effortlessly, but usually at the expense of capacity and run time. This beefy wood floor cleaner from Bissell offers the best of both worlds, with a large 0.8-litre capacity and around 30 minutes of cleaning time. It’s ideal for medium-sized households that need an extra thorough clean. If you like to keep your cleaning routine as streamlined as possible, then a spray mop will be an ideal tool for you. It's just what it sounds like: a practical mop with a built-in spray mechanism that allows you to apply solution or water while you're mopping, with the press of a button or squeeze of a nozzle. Now, in general, spray mops are designed to work across most residential hard and finished floors, but for hardwood in particular, we like the Bona Hardwood Floor Premium Spray Mop. First of all you'll need to free your floors from debris and dust by using a vacuum or broom. Then, add some diluted Osmo Wash & Care Floor Cleaner to your spray mop bottle and using a damp microfibre head on the mop, spread the product around the surface evenly. Afterwards, go around the room to wipe any parts that aren't yet dry. In testing, it was able to vacuum up larger debris like bits of cereal with ease, as well as smaller bits of dirt around the house. It doesn’t flood the cleaning rollers with water either, so you won’t find yourself with a soaking floor or needing to refill it every ten minutes. While it didn’t leave the floor fully dry, it was dry enough to be used as usual within a couple of minutes.

Best for oiling wooden floor

One of the most frustrating things about cleaning with a mop or steam cleaner is the long drying time. If you’re fed up with waiting around to use your floors, this hard floor cleaner is the answer. The ONEPWR washes, vacuums and dries simultaneously, cutting down cleaning and drying times significantly. Note the potential risks when it comes to slips and trips and make sure you let your floors dry and harden before walking on them.
