Best mesh Wi-Fi router 2023: Boost the range, speed and

Wi-Fi 6 has been around for a while now but while routers taking advantage of the technology are becoming more commonplace, mesh Wi-Fi systems are still playing catch up.It ultimately runs the risk of being a halfway house between truly affordable Wi-Fi 5 systems and the full performance of a top-range Wi-Fi 6 mesh, but if you’re looking for a budget-conscious Wi-Fi 6 system, you will find the Netgear Orbi RBK352 to be a solid choice. Fed up with flaky Wi-Fi? Choose one of our best mesh Wi-Fi systems and you will be able to enjoy a superfast connection in all corners of your home. These clever extensible kits cover a huge area, and since you can locate the nodes wherever you want – and even add extras – you can be certain of getting a strong signal where it’s needed. Performance is top-notch, too, leaving traditional wireless repeaters and powerline extenders in the dust. Manage your Wi-Fi at home or away on the Deco app, including seeing all connected devices, prioritizing your own, setting up a guest network, and more.

Even so, across all devices, that gives you a total of 18 streams to play with. All three satellites are identical, although you have to choose one as the main device. This must be connected to your internet modem via an Ethernet connection, although if you don’t want to (or can’t) replace your existing router, you can plug the first Deco into your router instead. If you don’t replace your router, you should disable your existing Wi-Fi.

TP-Link Deco X60 Review | Trusted Reviews

TP-Link aims to change that with the Deco X60, however, which comes in at a low-ish price, offers huge coverage and offers a tempting range of features. It’s also cheaper than the other systems I’ve reviewed, showing Wi-Fi 6 prices are starting to drop. The hexagonal head with pressed washer and ribs under the head prevent accidental loosening of the anchor making the system more secure. Very simple to use with fast installation. For fast, repetitive fixing with minimal screwdriver work. Ideal for fixing skirting, stud battens to walls and long runs of shelf supports. High quality nylon.Unlike traditional smart hubs, TP-Link Mesh Technology provides whole-home IoT coverage with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Zigbee integrated into a single system.Enjoy the magic of your smart home in every room with TP-Link Mesh Technology. Say goodbye to countless hubs. It’s clear to see that the TP-Link Deco X60 is the more effective mesh system than the Nighthawk, especially at close range. That’s what you’d expect given the higher speed rating of the X60. Speeds in the kitchen and living room were, surprisingly, closer together but the X60 eked out a lead again outside on the patio, suggesting it’s a more effective system for larger homes. These satellites are a little taller than previous Deco satellites, but they’re still small enough to place out of the way (110 mm × 110 x 114mm). Press Release: Meet the Superior Wi-Fi 6 Whole Home Mesh Wi-Fi System with the TP-Link Deco X60–High-Speed, Whole Home Coverage Most mesh Wi-Fi kits come with a smartphone app – for both Android and iOS – that walks you through the setup process. You can then continue to use the smartphone app to monitor and manage your mesh system. A web portal is sometimes available too, but it may not expose all of the available settings.

Other things we liked about the system include the fact that there are four Gigabit Ethernet ports on each unit and that these are located on the rear rather than on the base of the units, making them easier to access. There are basic parental controls here, too, however we didn’t like the way the web interface was laid out. We test mesh Wi-Fi systems by setting them up just as you would in a regular home. The primary unit is connected directly to an incoming fibre broadband line, while the second is located according to the manufacturer’s recommendations – normally one or two rooms away. If there’s a third node, this will be placed in another room, creating either a star or daisy-chain topology. A status light on the front of the satellite tells you if the satellite is connected, but you can use the app to see a better signal strength meter, and reposition your satellites if you don’t get a good connection. The system acts as a wireless extender system for your existing router, connecting via a simple Gigabit Ethernet cable. This means it doesn’t mess with your network settings, and there’s very little to configure – although the system does offer a guest network facility and simple group-based parental controls. The nodes look a bit odd, standing upright like mini-satellite dishes, but their small footprint means it’s easy to find suitable places for them around the home. The special double angle on the under-head geometry increases the stability of the concrete screw during screwing in.Armed with AI-Driven Mesh, Deco X60 delivers smart WiFi that follows you wherever you are, without interruption. It automatically learns your network environment, client quality, and user behaviors. Sophisticated algorithms account for various factors so that Deco X60provides ideal mesh WiFi, unique to your home. Walk through your home and enjoy seamless streaming at the fastest possible speeds.* Most mesh systems can present a wireless guest network alongside your normal domestic network. Devices connecting to this will be able to connect to the internet, but can’t talk to other devices on your home network. This means visitors can’t snoop through your shared folders or unwittingly bring malware onto your home network. Sure, you get some compromises to hit this price, but if you need greater coverage than speed and want the latest technology the X60 does a lot of things right. Use of Wi-Fi 6 and other features including OFDMA, MU-MIMO, 1024-QAM, and BSS Color require clients to also support the corresponding features.
