About this deal

First came the Véritable Petit Beurre, the biscuit which started it all and inspired Le Petit Beurre. Its iconic oblong shape took inspiration from French tea mats used at the time. The additional design flourishes cleverly reflect the calendar year – 4 corner ears for the 4 seasons, 52 teeth for each week of the year and 24 indents for the 24 hours of each day. Encapsulating the romance of the French, bakers Monsieur Lefèvre and Mademoiselle Utile put the first initials of their surnames together to create LU. This celebration of passion remains in every LU biscuit made since 1846, transporting consumers to a sun-dappled square in rural Provence.

The varieties were first produced in France during 1886.Made with “simple, authentic ingredients” and inspired by traditional French recipes, just one bite would “transport customers to a sun-dappled square in rural Provence”, said Lu.
