Emma: I’ve been painting for many years, and Contrast is one of the most fun and versatile paint ranges I’ve worked with. They are easy and fun to use, making armies faster than ever to paint. Taking advantage of the Sketch and Glaze technique popularized by thousands of award-winning miniature painters throughout the last 30 years (or 300 years by traditional canvas painters), this range of paints allows for inexperienced hobbyists to achieve unbelievable results with a little bit of patience and understanding of basic painting techniques. More experienced painters will fall in love with this range, as it allows them to save time by utilizing the pre-glazed paints without the need for additional mediums. Chapter markings and unit designations are red. The red squad specialty symbol -- battleline, close support, fire support, Veteran or command -- is displayed on the right shoulder pauldron, while the inset of the left shoulder pauldron is red and proudly displays the Chapter's iconography.

Ultramarines: The Ultramarines are one of the most iconic Space Marine chapters in the Warhammer 40K universe, known for their tactical acumen and strict adherence to the Codex Astartes. Their armor is predominantly blue, and Talassar Blue would make for an excellent base coat for this army. Lizzie: This is a really fun, swampy green with a number of applications. Naturally, it’s great for giving those Mantis Warriors some time in the spotlight.Blue paints are getting new options in the latest range. Celestium Blue slots between the brighter Talassar Blue and darker Ultramarine Blue. Emma: Gutrippa Flesh is terrific and will save a lot of time when painting Kruleboyz or Gretchin as it gives an excellent base colour and shade that suits these boyz down to the ground. It’s really great for camo cloth too!

A vivid alternative to Aethermatic Blue, this acts as a partner to Pylar Glacier, giving you even more choices in the blue range of the spectrum. Apothecary White and Gryph-charger Grey give you two blue-hued ways to shade White, but Dreadful Visage is a pale grey shade with a hint of lilac.

Talassar Blue is a vibrant blue color that is perfect for painting the armor of Space Marines, the iconic soldiers of the Warhammer 40K universe. Lizzie: As majestic as Sigvald himself, this is a really vibrant colour that shades and highlights effortlessly. Naturally, I’ve tried this on the Prince himself and I can confirm – he heartily approves. You can see that, generally speaking, the Grey Seer primer puts out a darker hue, while Corax White has the most vibrant and bright color. Of course, that leaves Wraithbone in the middle of the road.
