In Splendor Duel, the foundation of Splendor remains, but the game’s complexity has been ramped up considerably. Due to distribution restrictions we are only able to ship this product to the United States, Puerto Rico and U. A player may purchase one of the face-up development cards in the middle of the table or a card in their hand that was reserved on a previous turn. The vicious nature of Splendor Duel is a marker for its success however, with the two-player game embodying everything that makes a head-to-head experience so unique and enjoyable.

With 3 players: 2 tokens of each gem color except gold are removed (there should be only 5 of each remaining). Players still pick up and use jewel tokens to gain cards, with the more point-heavy cards requiring a larger number of jewels to be acquired, however, that’s where the similarities between Splendor Duel and its predecessor end. With 2 players: 3 tokens of each gem color except gold are removed (there should be only 4 of each remaining).In all likelihood, you'll value everything somewhat while keeping your options open and looking for opportunities, especially since crowns serve as a victory condition on their own, but they can also help you toward victory elsewhere. There’s also a victory tile that reminds you of the 3 ways in which you can claim victory, so best keep that in eyeline. This new addition to the Splendor line is intended for a wide range of players, from original Splendor fans who want to experience the new rules and tactics, to 2-player game fans who can experience a fierce duel in less than 30 minutes.

As in the original Splendor, players can only take one gold jewel at a time, alongside reserving a card to purchase, meaning that acquiring the jewel tokens you want is a lot trickier this time around.

The first player to reach 15 prestige points by accumulating nobles and development cards triggers the end of the game.

The game has a new ebb-and-flow over the board state, shifting from a race for the “good” groupings to a game of chicken over refilling the board, and then back to the race. Players win by earning 20 victory points, 10 points within a single color’s column, or by getting 10 “crowns. There are quite a few differences between Splendor and Splendor Duel, but that’s where you come in and find that out all for yourselves! Splendor Duel relies on entirely new rules and game contents: a common board, Privilege figurines, and Royal Favor cards, three unique win conditions, and a brand-new resource – the Pearl.
