In Monster High, the two mentioned boogie monsters are Twyla and her father. Because of Twyla, we know that boogie monsters eat nightmares. We also see that Twyla can travel through shadows and see if anyone is a shadow, but it's unknown if all boogie monsters have these abilities. "Boogie Sand" can turn anyone into some kind of monster, as shown in the movie "Haunted", when it was used to turn Twyla and the ghouls into ghosts. Fair and down-to-earth, Twyla is almost always about serious talking but is also very sarcastic and is the one in the group to be most likely to drop dry of dark humor since she too is playful, in a strange stoic way. Her friendship with Spectra Vondergeist has so far only been brought up in her profile and is not explained. An estimated basis for their friendship is that since they are both reclusive, if for differing reasons, Twyla finds a kindred spirit in Spectra. Shadow-Walking: Twyla can morph within the shadows, invisible to everyone. She can also teleport through shadows, fading through one & reappearing through another.

Shadow Manipulation: Twyla can create shadows and manipulate them via shadow puppetry. She can form the shadows into any shape, basic or complicated. Anyone can see these shadows, as seen in " Creepover Party". Despite the creepy reputation boogeymen hold in the monster community, Twyla is everything but. She's sweet and shy and likes to be helpful. Furthermore, Twyla is autistic, and part of her condition is sensory sensitivity. She's easily startled by loud noises and wears noise-canceling headphones in the form of cobwebs, without them she turns into a shadow.

As a boogeyman, Twyla owns all the abilities of her fellow boogie monsters, mostly related to shadows. February 07, 2013: Twyla is officially announced by Mattel's pre- American International Toy Fair press release.

Little is known about their relationship other than it's similar to a regular father-daughter relationship; however, it is implied that she does have a strained relationship with him, as she is very displeased by his nightmare-inducing traditions and therefore settles to undo them. It is unknown how her father feels about it or if he even knows. Twyla is the daughter of the Boogeyman. Despite their good relationship, Twyla doesn’t like his nightmares, so she replaces them with sweet dreams. In her 13 Wishes diary, Twyla refers to herself as "bad" and "terrible". It's unclear what brought her to this conclusion, as they don't appear to be solely caused by immediate events. Despite being shy, she can sometimes be friendly if she wants to be, such as towards Howleen, or greeting Cleo and being kind to her when believing her to be a new girl. 13 Wishes Appearance [ ] Clothes: She wears a seafoam colored dress with a cobweb print, and accented with light purple bits of tulle on the collar and skirt. Her shoes are cast in translucent aqua-green and feature bed-shaped heels. Extras: She comes with a transparent blue brush and doll stand made specifically for the Haunted line.
