About this deal

As he struggles to find the purpose of the thing living inside him he is drawn to the caves of Utah where he will dicier the Guyver's true purpose. Immune to Bullets: Pistol and rifle fire bounces off Zoanoid hide, meaning the Guyver, another Zoanoid, or an obscene amount of electricity are the only things that can hurt them. It has been a year(Or three depending how you look at it) Since Sean Barker first became the Guyver and destroyed the Cronos Corperation and their shape changing killers the Zionoids. That's what probably did the worst for the movie. For a B-movie, it was great, but since the DVD lost a huge amount, I didn't get the full story... Nor did the story seem to make any sense. Despite that shortcoming, enough was there to give you the basics. The scene where Balcus makes Lisker punch himself has music in the theatrical cut. In the VHS version, no music is present.

Admittedly, I bought this movie on the basis that it starred David Hayter. As a fan of him as Solid Snake, and his writing on the X-Men movies, I couldn't help but get it. It's true he's a better voice actor than actor, but I still enjoyed the movie. Major scene transitions in the "director's cut" are accompanied by slash going across the screen with a two-note techno theme. None of these are in the VHS cut. Additionally, 3 violent scenes are not in the so-called director's cut: GORE: 8/10- This film is quite gory. A man gets his throat cut, lots of blood poor from the wound. A creature gets his head cut off while in a river, the water turns red. A creature gets his eyes gouged out by a laser, his hands broken off at the rists, stabbed in the stomach multiple times and then gets his head crushed. A creature gets electrocuted and then shot two times. A creature's head explodes. A creature melts down to the bone. A creature gets stabbed with a crow-bar. The death scenes are graphic and bloody. Processing usually takes a day or so on average (Although far briefer, and longer periods are possible); during this time, the subject is suspended inside a tank filled with amniotic and apparently hyperoxidated fluid (meaning, it can be breathed) and hooked up to feeding and monitoring cables. Interestingly, it is possible to prematurely interrupt processing, while the subject still is capable of taking a Zoanoid battleform; however, this will dramatically reduce their life span. For instance, when Genzo Makishima was processed into Enzyme-I, he estimated his remaining life span at a week, while the Enzyme-II's commander Guyot deployed died within an hour. What type of Zoanoid a subject becomes can apparently be set to an extent; some types are more 'common' in the population, and can easily be mass-produced - examples are Gregole, Vamore and Ramotith. It is apparently possible to turn any human subject into a Ramotith. Mythology Gag: Crane's Guyver Zoanoid armor has the same color scheme and spiky motif as Guyver III with Guyver II's damaged control metal.

Hybrid Monster: Crane uses a Guyver unit bonded to him in human form while transformed into his Hyper Zoanoid body to become a "Guyver Zoanoid". When people talk about great films of low-budget filmmaking like Sam Raimi's Evil Dead or John Carpenter's Halloween or James Cameron's The Terminator, Steve Wang's Guyver: Dark Hero should also be mentioned!!! After being threatened by his boss for his team's repeated failures to get rid of the Guyver, Crane merged with the damaged Guyver Unit. He fought Sean as a hybrid Guyver/Zoanoid, referred to as the Guyver Zoanoid, and was dominating the fight with his combined powers until his damaged Control Medal started to malfunction. With his Guyver suit starting to eat him alive, Crane was occupied long enough for Sean to destroy him with the Mega Smasher rather than let him suffer a very painful death.

For now, we’ll have to make do with Dark Hero – a more faithful yet painfully low-budget take on Yoshiki Takaya’s concept – or its predecessor, The Guyver. The latter is goofy, ridiculous and quintessentially 90s, but buried within it are some great monsters and cheerfully gooey mutation effects. If approached on its own terms, there’s much to enjoy about this trashy, straight-to-video oddity. A text prologue explaining the origins of the guyver and zoanoids, as well as leading up to Dr. Segawa's predicament with the other zoanoids. Let's get this point out of the way first. It's not a brilliant movie. It's a low-budget movie, with some seriously bad acting (David Hayter seems to have about 4 facial expressions in the movie). So why do I find it so appealing. This R-rated Sequel to The Guyver (1991) or also known as "Mutronics" from here in England, is a mega piece of exciting sci-fi comic book action. I grew up watching "Mutronics" on video when i was little & loved it, now it's still a good rubbery monster movie & has a good role for Mark Hamill & it's a great Nostalgic childhood favourite of mine that i love, Many Zoanoids resemble existing animals to some extent, usually mammals, birds, reptiles or arthropods. Others, however, appear bizarre and outlandish, with no relation to any known living thing.Zoanoid Striker yelling down to Zoanoid Ramsey is shown in two cuts in the theatrical version, one in the VHS cut. The Remnant: Chronos in this film are largely acting in secret at least publicly, having their LA base destroyed by Sean last movie and being embroiled in a secret conflict with the US government. That said, given they operate in plenty of other cities in secret and Guyot is in charge where Balcus left off. Off with His Head!: Sean decapitates one Zoanoid and blows up another one's head with dynamite it caught in its mouth by setting it off with a blast from his forehead laser.

Hyper-Zoanoids physically stand apart from normal Zoanoids in that they have unique abilities, usually at least two separate 'power sets'. The most powerful Hyper-Zoanoids can be considered to be a match for the Guyver. Recently, more advanced Hyper-Zoanoids have appeared, that have been modified specifically to fight a Guyver, possessing qualities that negate several of its weapons (eg, reactive armor that can stop a vibro-blade and resist the vibrations of the sonic buster). Mercy Kill: After ripping out Crane's Control Metal, he begins to agonizingly melt. The damaged Control Metal has some kind of interaction with Sean's, prompting him to vaporize Crane with the Mega Smasher. The animated version of Guyver is a lot more serious and meant for adults. It had a lot of gory violence and adult themes. As we got into script development, we realized that with the budget and schedule we had to shoot the movie, we’d probably be better off making it for a broader audience, like a PG-I3. [2] Release [ edit ] Guyver: Dark Hero was released direct-to-video in the United States in 1994. The film is also alternatively released as Guyver 2: Dark Hero in the US. Although the acting is very hammy at times(What do you expect for a sci-fi b-movie) I recommend that people wanting to find out about The Guyver best watch the original anime show then view this live action version before viewing the first movie.

Defiant to the End: After having the electricity for the camp blasted into her, the fried female Zoanoid grabs at Atkins' ankle as her final act before Atkins finishes her off.I am surprised a sequel was even made after the failure of the cinema release for the first Guyver movie, but I'm glad they did. This would had been perfect if it had the budget of the first movie but still had the story of the second. This is great for teens and manga guyver fans but there is still allot of room for improvments. It had been three years since the world had been exposed to the Americanization of a manga classic, some loved it,other despised it. The movie was inappropriately funny or unfunny, badly written and directed. The only redeeming feature where the really cool creature effects helmed by Co-Director Steve Wang. For starters, I am really glad that the film rights to "Guyver" has passed into more competent hands. Gone is the campy feel and laughable story of the first film, replaced with a more competent script and a serious science fiction/action feel that still threads the line of B movie-ness but is careful to not fall headlong into the category of "silly". As one of capable agents of the secretive organization Chronos, Arlen Crane was devoted to both its cause and please his superiors. A cruel and calculating manipulator, he presented himself as an amicable figure in front his unsuspecting pawns and even attempted to appeal Sean to join him by claiming that he wished to be normal as much as him instead of a freak at one point. But of course, Sean refused knowing Crane had since accepted his transformation into a Zoanoid as the necessary price for his cause to Chronos and rarely, if not never, took human cost into account since he willing to dispose the excavation team without remorse or hesitation once they outlived their usefulness. His considerable abilities also made him arrogant, but nevertheless retain enough humility to respect his superiors. Godzilla Threshold: Crane knowingly bonds with the heavily damaged Guyver unit, something that could very easily kill him in a horrific way, because Guyot will have his head in a day if he doesn't capture Sean and secure the spaceship, and he doesn't have the power to do it otherwise.
