Langs is a flavoured rum sourced from Jamaica and infused with 100% natural banana flavour in Scotland. Our rum is a blend of unaged and aged Jamaican rums from ex-bourbon American white oak casks. All ingredients are natural. No artificial flavours, oils or essences are used in the making of Langs Rum.

Langs Banana Jamaican Rum 70Cl - Tesco Groceries

The banana variant is the first in a new range of flavoured rums from the Langs brand, which will be released in the coming months. Ian Macleod has planned a phased roll out for the brand in the UK on-trade. Banana rum is a light rum that benefits from the sweet tropical flavor of banana. I prefer Kenny Chesney’s brand, Blue Chair Bay, for my liquor cabinet because it also contains toasted coconut and spices for a well-rounded flavor that’ll send your taste buds right to the beach. Feel like you’re truly on the beach with some tropical garnishes. Skewer a slice of pineapple, orange and a maraschino cherry with a mini parasol and place against the glass’ rim. The Lang Brothers brand joined Ian Macleod Distillers’ portfolio in 2003 as part of the firm’s acquisition of Highland whisky distillery Glengoyne from Macallan owner Edrington. According to Ian Macleod, Langs Rum was no longer being sold by Edrington by that point. A commonplace tipple of the ’20s, pineapple gin fell off the map and was lost to time for a while. That Boutique-y Gin Company has rescued it from that fate and given it a 21st century twist! Whole pineapples are roasted on a spit with Demerara sugar until they’re gloriously caramelised, and they’re then combined with a particularly bold gin, helping to cut through the sweet pineapple.

Langs Banana Rum is the first flavoured rum in Ian Macleod’s portfolio In September this year, Ian Macleod Distillers revived Jamaican rum brand Langs with the launch of a banana-flavoured expression in the UK. The brand’s first line extensions, Langs Mango and Ginger Rum and Langs Pineapple Rum, are both bottled at 37.5% ABV. First, fill your shaker about three-fourths full of ice cubes. Then pour in your banana rum, fruit juices and grenadine.

On the nose: the rum is sweet and fruity, bold banana flavours (foam banana sweets, warm banana bread topped with brown sugar), lots of sweets flavours (chocolate limes, cola cubes, candy floss), subtle cinnamon and vanilla. The pineapple-flavoured bottling is said to have hints of coconut, caramel and lime, and a nose of pineapple, coconut, and raisin ice cream. The palate delivers pineapple, caramel and cinnamon, followed by a finish of fruits and spiced oak. It is suggested to be consumed neat, over ice, or mixed with cranberry juice. Now, with the arrival of some late summer sun, Langs Jamaican Rum is set to add to the area’s tropical resemblance by introducing a pop-up rum bar, launching on the beach’s shores from Saturday 19 September.

Stir well then top with soda. Langs rum has an alcohol content of 37.5%abv. We believe this alcohol strength is the best to balance our rum base with our exotic flavours. Now, Ian Macleod Distillers has revived the Langs brand with its own take on the banana bottling. The new expression is a blend of unaged and ex-Bourbon American white oak cask aged Jamaican rums. It has been distilled in both pot and column stills and infused with natural fruit flavour. Aliquam id leo efficitur, ullamcorper ipsum vel, tincidunt mauris. Aliquam tincidunt eget augue sit amet aliquam. Praesent eros ante, ornare et tellus eget, fermentum suscipit eros. Vivamus fringilla metus tempor, hendrerit urna pharetra, efficitur turpis. Donec et tempor nulla. Praesent ipsum purus, rhoncus id tellus quis, tincidunt imperdiet neque. Mauris quis orci gravida, dapibus eros et, convallis lorem. Just as in whisky, ageing mellows and improves the taste of freshly distilled rum. While the rum matures in oak barrels, natural tannins in the wood impart a golden tint that yields to a rich brown cast after several years.
