About this deal

Medicines that should be initiated by a specialist and prescribed by primary care prescribers only under a shared care protocol, once the patient has been stabilised. Approved for use on PICU for use as a post-filter replacement fluid for children receiving Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) As a general rule, herbal products are poorly standardised, will have no evidence of efficacy (but will have a placebo effect), have unknown side effects and interactions, give false hope and cost money. A supporting prescribing guideline may be requested which must have been agreed by the relevant secondary care trust DTCs and approved by the Nottinghamshire APC.

Nottingham CountyCouncil clinical waste collection service(links to individual district/borough councils) Approved in accordance with HST13 for treating familial chylomicronaemia syndrome at a commissioned specialist centre. Grey / Non-Formulary (undergoing assessment): Work is ongoing and will be reviewed at a future APC meeting. Only to be prescribed if there is no alternative (such as a slipper or larger shoe) or if wounds are very heavily leaking and would ruin the patients footwear.Filsuvez gel is a herbal medicinal product which contains dry extract from birch bark used for the treatment of wounds The Kerraped boots fill in for the vulnerable foot of the patients suffering from lymphedema, have neuropathic foot ulcers or the ones with bulky bandages on the foot who cannot wear their regular footwear. Not appropriate for prescription in primary care. Offloading knee braces should only be used after specialist assessment. The Kerraped boots are designed in a way that they provide maximum comfort to your foot. These shoes can be worn on either of the foot as a replacement for your regular footwear. The boot has many benefits aside from being a comfortable and light footwear which allows you to reduce pressure on an injured or bandaged foot. No new patients to receive prescriptions in primary care. Patients already receiving Red Medicines in primary care should be handled on a case by case basis with the support of the Medicines Optimisation team.

Specialist is defined by the APC as a clinician who has undertaken an appropriate formal qualification or recognised training programme within the described area of practice and has a working experience and knowledge within a speciality area Grey / Non-Formulary: Medicines, which the Nottinghamshire APC has actively reviewed and does not recommend for use at present due to limited clinical and/or cost effective data. Our body is made such that it divides the weight equally and makes a balance on both our legs that we stand on. However, when even one of the feet or legs are hurt it becomes difficult for a person to make a balance while standing, ending up with putting more pressure on the affected leg. These boots are therapeutic, off-loading footwear which reduces up to 30% of the pressure on your foot leaving you able to walk normally. The supporting prescribing guideline must have been agreed by the relevant secondary care trust D&TC(s) and approved by the Nottinghamshire APC. Microbiologistandgastroenterology recommendation only approved in accordance withNICE Interventional Procedures Guidancefor the treatment of recurrent Clostridium difficile infection .Sharps bins are provided free of charge to patients in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire on prescription. 1 litre bins are usually prescribed, but larger bins can be prescribed for those on long term injections (to allow less frequent collections) or multiple injections (where larger volume of waste is produced). Grey / Non-Formulary (no formal assessment): APC has not formally reviewed this medicine or indication because it had never been requested for formulary inclusion. Often used for drugs new to market. There is no such thing as 'Alternative medicine'. Something either works or it doesn't. If any 'alternative medicine' is shown to work they become 'medicines'.
