At the other end of the spectrum is the humble Pot Grot. Coming in at 35 points, they might just be the cheapest fighter in the game – even Gnoblars are more expensive at 45 points. While their stats may be measly, they still have their uses thanks to the Brewed Elixirs ability. Couple of days ago I received this awesome box in the post from Games Workshop. I’m going to be honest with you guys. When I received Cursed City a few months ago I spent a week filming, photographing, editing and writing my review of the game only for the game to sell out before anyone had seen the review. I felt bad sharing my review because so many people were angry they didn’t get a chance to buy the set. So that’s had a profound affect on me and this “review”. Fundamentally, this box feels like it’s perfectly fitted for people more or less like me – experienced Warhammer 40K hobbyists and players looking to make the hop into the Mortal Realms. Who it ain’t for is beginners. Just as we recommended against new players going for Age of Sigmar’s Soul Wars starter set (unless they were big fans of both armies, and dead set on buying the hardcover rulebook) Dominion is not the best way into the game for newbies. I love the first iteration of the Stormcast. Curse me, but I never cared for Warhammer Fantasy. Just not my thing. But releasing these all-powerful mythic warriors immediately got my attention. I remember the day that a White Dwarf mag came out with a free Stormcast model – the first one to come out. The one time that year I didn’t make my weekly trip to Warhammer World and by the time I learned of this free mini., the mag was sold out. Gutted.

Not much clean up to do here, but there is a very noticeable join line right down the archer in the reloading pose and very little you can do about it without a lot of work. cleaning out those details requires a touch of resculpting. Murknob with Belcha-banna: Murknobs are champion warriors among the Kruleboyz, and they revel in taking the heads of their adversaries – honestly or otherwise. The model comes supplied with a Citadel 40mm Round Base. Yet there seem to be two main camps on the subject: those who love the classic WHF Orks or Orruks and just wanted these to be of similar style but Sigmarised. And the other camp is those who heard the rumours that Dominion would introduce a new race, only to find that this race is as new as Dark Eldar, Wood Elves or Chaos Space Marines. This novel by Darius Hink plunges directly into the setting of the Era of the Beast as the Kruleboyz rise up and the Thunderstrike Stormcast Eternals take to the field.

Holding aloft icons wrought in the form of Kragnos, the Living Earthquake,* these strange devices offer protection against enemy magic and flood the battlefield with choking swamp gas. Instead of showing you a model and its optional build, the first five models get their own sections. The next five models use many of the same parts as the last five, so you need to swap to the other sprue. The final five models on each sprue are twins of each other with simple helmeted and non-helmeted head swaps between them.

My absolute favourite models from this box. The Bladeguad Veterans Annihilators are the big mean bodied hulks of the bunch. Big detailed shields, massive hammers, gigantic shoulders. That armour would make even Marcus Fenix blush. Unit coherency has been updated to be more like 40K. All models in your unit now have to be within an inch of all other models in the unit. From the most straightforward sprue to the most annoying. Two of these come in the box and can I just say, these sprues really irritated me. The layout alone was irritating with all the little parts, but the guide. Oh, the guide. I’m really excited for Open Play for the first time ever because it now includes Points Values! So using Core Battalions (basic Battalions available to everyone) I can structure an army of Slaves to Darkness and Daemon battalions fighting side by side and not be hampered by mini unit choices or allies points limits. With Dominion just weeks away, we’re preparing our paint brushes and concocting colour schemes for the armies in the box. Citadel Colour is here to help us capture the dank swampiness of the orruk force. In addition, the Knight-Vexillor with Banner of the Apotheosis can provide vital support with their bespoke ability to Plant the Banner of the Reforged. The Player’s Code makes it into the rules. It’s all common sense but because some people still can’t seem to function correctly it’s definitely warranted. Interesting nothing about using deodorant, that would have been my number one! Tell me in the comments what you’d add to the player’s code.

We also want to call out the fact that while these poses might be limited, they were still very impressive for both the Stormcasts and the Kruleboyz. Overall, we’re very pleased with how all the models ended up looking. It was also a group effort to get these bad boys built for the video – we didn’t have a lot of time to get them all assembled so some of them might have the occasional sprue burr on them. Don’t worry – we’ll take care of that before it’s time to paint them up. First up, I wanted to show off the only variant model in this set. The Gutrippa Boss can also be built as a normal Gutrippa. Though, in fairness, the only difference is that he is wearing a metal helmet. The shield and arm bare little difference to any of the other models. This wasn’t a hard sprue to work on, it was actually quite fun in the beginning, having the Killaboss on Great Gnashtoof to work on upfront made it really fun. This is an awesome model and one of the showcase pieces from this set. As with the above sprue, this is straightforward with only a single minor variant in all the models: an optional head choice.

I say two or three sets of twins because the guide says that models’ E & F can be built as standard warriors or Vindictor Primes. You really should only have one prime in your unit, but the guide doesn’t explain this. Wanting variation (not really paying attention), I built two of them as Primes. I guarantee I’m not the only one who has done this by accident.

Adding 10 to the number of wounds monsters have suffered when determining which row on their damage table to use can really cripple some monsters (I’m painting gargants right now and they are sad and she isn’t even nearby), but be wary of getting greedy; a bunch of monsters can more than happily yeet her into the sun even with 10 wounds ‘taken’, and remember that Mangler Squigs get better again as they take more wounds . Also, uh. Skarbarand. Yeah. Run away from him, mkay? This time, following Indomitus’ approach, I expect this to come in the mid- and top-tier AoS 3.0 starter boxes. Warhammer Age of Sigmar Dominion – Sprue F – Swampcalla Shaman with Pot-grot Placed into 2 battalions, the Command Entourage for an additional enhancement which is spent on an extra Holy Command as well as the Redemption Brotherhood to make all of the non-heroes a one-drop, lowering the army’s drops from 11 to 6 allowing you to maybe choose who takes first turn if you come up against a high drop army. I fall into a smaller subset of Games Workshop fans, one that doesn’t care about the lore, or the factions, or the game. I’m one who likes cool looking models. And here, that’s exactly what has been delivered Stormcast have a wide range of models and it can be overwhelming. The Stormcast army out of the box already has a lot of tools which is great, it has a big centerpiece hero that supports the army while also hitting hard. It’s not an inspiring graph, but there’s a fairly decent spread in here. Praetors and Yndrasta are the real winners, while Annihilators are interesting, Lord-Imperatants and Knight-Vexillors both have use cases, and Vindictors are your bog standard vanilla battleline. The only real loser here is the Knight-Arcanum, who really just needs to go home and level up to become a Lord-Arcanum before being interesting again. Lets take a look at the models in “Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Everyone Has A Shield Edition” Vindictors Well, you should be able to see that they’re pretty splendid to behold. As for ease of building, however, I was surprised by the extent to which Dominion’s models pay for their complex beauty with unusually fiddly construction. Knight-Arcanum - The Knight-Arcanum are wizards unit with access to the Blaze of Heavens spell, which can deal D3 mortal wounds to an enemy unit within eighteen inches. The range of the spell is boosted by two inches for every Thunderstrike unit within twelve inches of the Knight-Arcanum, so surround them with friendly warriors for a long-rage sniping spell.
