About this deal

Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus - or MRSA as it is more commonly known, is a form of the staphylococcus bacteria that have become very resistant to antibiotics. To be able to protect against MRSA, it is imperative that as much as possible is understood about the bacteria and its activity. Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).

It is estimated that approximately 30% of the population are colonised (when bacteria are present, but not causing an infection) with Staphylococcus aureus - most often carried on the skin or in the nose of healthy people. It is a common cause of skin infections such as pimples & boils, which are normally treated without antibiotics. Approximately 1% of the population is colonised with the more lethal form, MRSA, which although linked to hospital deaths, has no ill effect on a healthy individual. Clean your immediate surroundings regularly - particularly when away from the home and travelling.. Applications are endless and include disinfecting areas such as public toilet seats, door handles, high chairs, caravans etc All baby accessories can be cleaned and sterilised using the Milton Method : bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic bibs and weaning items.

Hygiene outdoors

Sometimes baby food can stain heavily and make it hard to get your whites looking spotless. To whiten bibs, bodysuits and linen use Milton Sterilising Fluid. It is always best to try cleaning a small area first to ensure you're happy with the result. Both MRSA and Staphylococcus aureus are particularly vulnerable to disinfectants and the application of simple hygiene routines will do much to prevent their spread. Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS. Milton sterilising tablets have been expertly developed to sterilise baby items using cold water. The Milton cold water method of sterilising has been used by mums and hospitals for over 70 years and has been specifically formulated to kill 99.9% of germs. Ideal for use at home, travel and overnight stays. The solution is effective for 24 hours and there is no need to rinse baby items bafore they go into baby's mouth. Use to sterilise all breastfeeding equipment and baby feeding accessories: breast pump parts, baby bottles, soothers, teething rings, small plastic toys, plastic cutlery and weaning items.

Don’t forget to give a regular clean to your baby's potty, bath, high chair, changing table and plastic mattress. A Milton solution made up with either Tablets or Fluid can be a handy way to keep all your baby’s equipment perfectly clean! Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication. Wash all items in clean, warm soapy water or use Milton Baby Bottle Cleaner, then rinse before using the sterilising solution. Drop 1 tablet into 5 litres of clean, cold water. Let the tablet dissolve to form the Sterilising Solution. Pop baby items into the Milton Sterilising Solution and ensure they are completely submerged for a minimum of 15 minutes to become sterilised. Solution is effective for 24 hours. Special care must be taken when cleaning all breastfeeding equipment. Use Milton Sterilising Fluid and Tablets to sterilise breastpump parts, nipple shields, breast shells and breast milk storage equipment.Removes milk residue, is dermatologically tested with 100% plant based cleaning agents. Milton's Eco Friendly Baby Bottle Cleaner is a 100% biodegradeable plant based cleaner that ensures thorough cleaning of babies feeding equipment before steriliisng. The new baby bottle cleaner is dermatologically tested and formulated for sensitive skin, making it kind to hands even after washing up multiple times per day. The transparent gel is fragrance, colour and paraben free and produces a foamy lather perfect for cleaning baby bottles, teats, teethers, toys, breastpump components and accessories and family dishes. All baby feeding equipment must be clean to be sterilised effectively. Milk can often create a white film on feeding equipment which can be difficult to remove respecially around the rim of the bottle in the thread where the cap screws on. If any milk residue is left on either the bottle or cap it can become a dangerous breeding ground for bacteria to grow and cause babies to become ill. Parents can become worried that chemicals in some washing up liquids are harsh and can leave a smell behind on the items they've been used on, the Milton baby bottle cleaner alleviates these concerns with 100% plant based active ingredients and a fragrance-free formula, whilst still being 100% effecive on removing milk residue.

Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
