About this deal

So, like me, you decided to buy some lace-up boxing gloves. There are a lot of benefits for using lace-up gloves. The laces provide a custom fit in the hand and wrist area and traditionally provide more wrist support than their Velcro counterparts. They usually have padding around the wrist which tends to be a little more comfortable and streamlined. You don’t have to worry about the Velcro scratching a sparring partner. Lace-up gloves are a classic that have stood the test of time. I would say that every pro I know has at least 1 pair of lace-up gloves for sparring days. Last but not least, in my opinion, they look better. what i’m unsure of is how viable lace converters and/or elastic laces are in general for the many hours of solo training i like doing outside of partner/group stuff at the gym.. where do they sit in terms of convenience/annoyance? would i still get better wrist support with a lace n loop on lace up gloves as opposed to the support on just a velcro pair? are elastic laces a decent or better alternative? i like the idea of just having to slip them on and have decent snugness.. The Lace N Loop converters work differently. Instead of trying to mimic velcro gloves, they try to work with the laces, allowing you to still get all of the benefits of your lace-up gloves while still being able to put the gloves on yourself. Since the Lace N Loop system was released we’ve spotted other brands copying the design, but Lace N Loop were the first as far as we know. Lace N’ Loop method is a product that allows you to train with your lace-up boxing gloves while training alone. So recently I bought a pair of lace-up boxing gloves ( Top Boxer Win1 gloves). I do some training at the gym along with occasional sparring but I also do some training at home and I began wondering how I could use the gloves when training alone without anyone there to tie them for me.

Pro tip: Cinch the laces tighter than you think before tying your knot. The most elastic laces will stretch further than you think. This will allow you to still get your hands inside your glove by yourself but still stay tight enough to get some wrist protection and have your gloves maintain a good position while training.Lace N Loop is a brand started in 2017 who specialise in velcro converters for lace-up boxing gloves. These aren’t the first velcro converters on the market. The problem is, these other straps simply try to function exactly like the strap on velcro gloves, often requiring you to knot the laces up to hold the strap in place. I found two ways to use my lace-up gloves when training alone: 1) Elastic shoe laces. 2) Lace converter systems like Lace N’ loop. Attaching the straps to the glove is pretty simple. The ends of your laces tie around the metal ring on the inner part of the strap. I’ve found there are a couple of different ways of knotting the laces, but as long as they’re securely attached it works fine. The Lace N Loop logo sits right on the front of the straps in red and blue. The logo looks great on both of our colour options, however it stands out a little bit more on the plainer colour options. So when it’s time to put the strap on, you put your hand in the glove, pull the Lace N Loop strap so the laces tighten at the wrist, and then pull the strap around the wrist. Instead of the two laces tying in separate directions like you would usually lace them, you have to wind them around the same way. You then finish up by securing the velcro strap, pulling tightly to make the most of the elastication.

The Lace N Loop straps are the first method I’ve found which do give you the same tight fit as lace ups while still allowing you to put them on yourself. The major cons of the lace-up method are they can be difficult to put on and take off while training alone. Even if you are training with someone who can tie your laces, they can be more time consuming to put on and take off which can be difficult if you will be doing intervals or changing disciplines like transitioning to grappling. The Strap itself is about an inch wide. The first section (which forms the inner part of the strap) has soft velcro on one side and a neoprene/foam-like texture on the other side to grip onto the glove without damaging it. On one side there’s a metal ring punched into the material, which is there you attach your laces on to the strap. On the other side, the strap is extended with an elasticated section which connects to the hard velcro side. The hard side of the velcro is a type of non-abrasive velcro which we’ve seen on other products such as the VIRUS Disaster Combat Shorts. I hope that the next 2 options help to eliminate most of the cons of using lace-up gloves and allow you to use the gloves while training alone. Elastic Shoe Lace Method Pros and Cons
