About this deal

Sinbad was suggested for the part by Schwarzenegger's agent, but the producers felt he was unsuited to the role of a villain as it could harm his clean, family-oriented comedy act and reputation, although Sinbad felt the character would generate the audience's sympathy rather than hate. Sure, some of the action and the story was not the best, but I thought it did provoke a lot of laughter.

Howard promises both Jamie and his wife, Liz, that there will indeed be one under the tree for Jamie on Christmas morning, but on Christmas Eve, Howard realizes that he hasn't actually bought one yet.Satires that fooled everyone, from the audience to the actors playing in the film are toughest to find. Jamie Malanowski of The New York Times praised the film's satirical premise but felt it was "full of unrealized potential" because "the filmmakers [wrongly] equate mayhem with humor.

First off, we have Arnold Schwarzenegger, The Terminator, he's playing this wacky almost like 80's silly comedy show type of Father Knows Best. Sinbad is also pretty fun to in a fun little antagonist kind of way, but the best supporting actor throughout the film has to be Phil Hartman with his sleazy divorced husband character. Byron is disappointed, grows up to become a loser; neighbor that gets the doll becomes a multi-millionaire. Additionally, the city's Holidazzle Parade is renamed the Wintertainment Parade and takes place on 2nd Avenue during the day, rather than Nicollet Mall at night. As the "real" Turbo-Man, Howard uses the opportunity to present a coveted limited-edition Turbo-Man doll to his son in the crowd. Howard finds Myron at the diner and they share their experiences over coffee, where Myron tells him of his resentment towards his own father for failing to get him a Johnny Seven OMA for Christmas. When Howard misses his son Jamie's karate practice, he makes peace by promising him a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas.

While the clues are pointing towards lampoon, Levant looks like he really aimed for the heartfelt, emotional Christmas movie with the bittersweet ending. Jack Garner of USA Today condemned the film, finding it more "cynical" than satirical, stating "this painfully bad movie has been inspired strictly by the potential jingle of cash registers. Apparently I watched it when I was little, but I have very little memory of the fact, still though, watching it today, I enjoyed it very much. Roger Ebert gave the film two-and-a-half stars, writing that he "liked a lot of the movie", which he thought had "energy" and humor which would have mass audience appeal. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 19% based on 47 reviews and an average rating of 4.Each TurboMan doll will come in movie-accurate packaging, will have gold chrome paint and will have 9 points of articulation. The film marks Schwarzenegger's fourth appearance as the lead in a comedy film, following Twins (1988), Kindergarten Cop (1990) and Junior (1994).
