Linear MF Focus Control: Provides convenience to video shooters by matching the torque of the focus ring as closely as possible to that of a manual focus lens when shooting video in manual mode. Excellent image quality and smooth boke: thanks to the high light intensity, the lens delivers excellent image quality over the entire focal length range, from the centre to the edge. With a beautiful, soft and harmonious bokeh, it is perfect for freestanding motifs, such as portraits.

(Image credit: Future) As noted previously, Samyang has worked hard to optically correct the 35-150mm zoom as effectively as it can, and it shows in the optical performance. The center sharpness is exceptional across the focal range and while there is some fall-off towards the corners at 35mm and f/2.0, it’s not as much as might be expected. By f/4.0, the centre-to-corner sharpness is impressively uniform as is the brightness. Again, there’s slight vignetting when shooting at the widest focal length and wide open, but it’s not excessive and may not even be enough to warrant any post-camera correction (depending on your personal preferences). Whilst busy developing a series of second generation mirrorless lenses, Samyang has found the time to release an all-new, all-in-one zoom lens for full-frame Sony mirrorless cameras. Just like the Tamron lens, the Samyang 35-150mm covers full-frame sensors, and it, unfortunately, comes for Sony E-mount only. The zoom range is very versatile and the fast aperture of f/2 on the wide end and f/2.8 on the telephoto end makes it a very interesting do-it-all option for full-frame cameras in my opinion. A slight downside might be the lens weight and size, but that is to be expected given the impressive specs.
