The mount uses 8 AA batteries that are not included (weird that one). The battery tray is conveniently placed in the arm of the mount.On-camera Lighting Flashguns Canon Fit Flash Sony Fit Flash Nikon Fit Flash Fujifilm Fit Flash Micro Four Thirds Fit Flash Panasonic Lumix S Fit Flash Flash Accessories LED Camera Lights The Celestron NexStar SLT mount is a pretty simple, inexpensive alt-azimuth mount that moves up and down, left-to-right. To use it, you enter the time, date, and your location, then sight the telescope on any two or three bright stars. The mount can then map out the rest of the sky and point the telescope at any object of your choosing. This is fairly standard for most GoTo mounts. The SLT mount uses a Vixen dovetail saddle, so you can easily swap in other telescopes with Vixen dovetail bars if you wish, provided they don’t exceed the SLT mount’s capacity or crash into the base. Named after their venerable GoTo system, the Celestron NexStar 130SLT 130mm f/5 Reflector Telescope is a complete platform for making observations of the Moon, planets, and bright deep-space objects such as binary stars, star clusters, galaxies and nebulae. The combination of large aperture and shorter focal length translates to a fast f/5 focal ratio making this iteration of the NexStar telescope series ideal for wide-field astrophotography or making detailed images of the Moon. Celestron includes two eyepieces, plus an unmagnified finderscope, and stainless steel adjustable-height tripod. Other optical elements may have also been coated multiple times, but you can’t be sure till you read the telescope manual or product description. Multiple layers of coatings massively reduce the amount of light lost to reflection in a telescope. Comes with "The Sky" Level 1 planetarium software and NSOL telescope control software for controlling your telescope via computer

It may not look like much of a difference when you compare the two, but the 130 SLT will definitely be able to gather more light in comparison. The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT comes with two Plossl eyepieces. The focal lengths are 25mm and 9mm, which gives you two magnifications. I’ll talk about the magnifications you get with these eyepieces later. Celestron NexStar 130 SLT telescope’s computerized mount If you cannot seem to get a good adjustment, there is a second nut on the top end of the azimuth axis. It is accessed under the plastic cover on top of the base. Along the bottom edge of this cover, on both sides near the fork arm, you will find a small opening that allows you to pry the cover up and remove it. It is attached to the base with two sided foam tape. Under this cover you will find the nut. The Celestron Astro-Fi 130 is essentially identical to the NexStar 130SLT, but features Celestron’s Astro-Fi onboard WiFi system allowing you to control the scope with your phone or tablet, and sturdier tripod legs that significantly improve usability and stability compared to the flimsy NexStar SLT tripod. Celestron notes that you can also use the telescope for “land-based” spotting. That is, you can use it as binoculars for bird watching and wildlife observations. In essence, the NexStar 130 SLT is a multipurpose scope. To improve stability, I always hang something heavy in the middle to lower the center of gravity. Remember not to hang it on the middle holder tray legs because you will break it. Do it on the top, where the legs are joined to the top part of the mount. This telescope is built on a computerized mount, which is helpful with finding objects in the night sky- a great feature if you are a beginner and don’t know anything about astronomy yet. A light-efficient telescope like the NexStar 130 SLT with a relatively large aperture and multi-coated surfaces will give you brighter views of night sky objects. Furthermore, the images will have higher contrast. You’ll be able to see more details.
