About this deal

We've been waiting for this for a while now," said Adrian Bleiler, international sales manager of KMC. Well I have jumped down the rabbit hole on this one. I have a couple Trek Rails (ones mine, the other is shared between my wife and my oldest kids). The latest milestone from KMC in rust protection. The non-toxic EcoProTeQ treatment doubles the rust resistance compared to KMC's RB anti-rust treatment. The advantages of the very smooth coating are maximum rust resistance, low noise and a great look. In this case, it is possible that the transmitted data will also be processed there by local authorities.

At Eurobike this week, both companies unveiled plans to enter the 12-speed market in January 2020. Connex's 12SO and KMC's X12 and e12 chains are compatible with Sram 12-speed mountain bike and Shimano 12-speed drivetrains. The Non-Directional design makes it independent of direction which allows maximum compatibility on MTB or Race bikes. With its unique stretch-proof treatment, the durability has been enhanced massively by reducing the attrition between the inner plates and pin. As a result, chain life has been significantly prolonged. The upper bridge forms a slant vault parallel to the tip of the tooth movement. This vault shape makes the tooth and chain engage much more precisely.

If you wish to return your bike to us please keep it in the box it arrived in and call us on 01772 644340 and we will arrange a collection.

Fantastic reply! This was a great read and has been a big assist in trying to figure out truth vs fiction. The KMC is chamfered on both sides/symmetrical, Shimano only chamfered on the outside plates/asymmetrical and must be fitted in a certain way.If you ride wet conditions however, it might actually help to keep the water and grime out... Don't take my word for it though. Chain reaction Cycles and CRC are trading names of Wiggle Ltd (In Administration) registered in the United Kingdom at 1000 Lakeside, Suite 310, Third Floor N E Wing, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO6 3EN, There is a lot of knowledge on this forum about different ways to get best value. One is to boil the chain in wax. Another is to use three chains in rotation - swapping every few hundred miles or at a specific wear %. That way the gears will never reject a brand-new chain. There are other methods. This time round I'm going to give the Deore chain a go and do the melted speed wax option. Will have all the parts to do this on Monday. I will log the chain wear and see how it goes compared to the current M7100 chain. After I'm done with the deore I will try the new KMC e12 chain. It's substantially more expensive than the deore, so I will need it to last considerably longer to justify the expense.

KMC`s e-bike chains were specially developed for the requirements of powerful mid-engines. An optimized bolt design ensures unsurpassed durability as the most important feature of these chains. Our special e-bike version is more durable because of the enhanced riveting," said Harrie Hofstede, KMC OEM sales manager. "Both versions are an upgrade on durability." Roller chain is a really well-understood technology at this point, as are the high-performance steel alloys used in bicycle chains. Any improvements at this point are more likely to be incremental and expensive than simple and cheap. While Sram got the jump on Shimano in the 12-speed evolution, the two chain companies were at a disadvantage because Sram does not allow group component substitutions at the OEM level. That delayed KMC, which does a lot of OEM business. Connex, on the other hand, doesn't cater much to the OEM level, so it waited on Shimano to ensure it could deliver a compatible option, which Connex said is more durable.

While Connex maintains its chains are strong enough for the torque generated by e-bikes, KMC is manufacturing a dedicated e-bike chain, the e12. Using a reinforced pin design, KMC says the e12 will last three times longer than standard chains. It's also offered in several color options. The X12 and e12 are constructed with a non-directional design for easy installation. I now have 3 new deore chains which I removed the factory grease. Two of which I have prepped using Speed Wax, which is the full on melt in a pot wax. They will both be used on on my bike. The melt wax is a bit of a pain in the ass, so I will run one speed wax chain and swap it out every 100km or so depending on conditions with the second speed wax chain. I can then refresh the first chain in my spare time. I found that the KMC chain is not very well compatible with Shimano 12 speed, had the following issues - For an eBike, I think you're best off leaving the chain clean and un-lubed year-round. Even with stronger eBike chains, you'll be wearing them out faster than they can rust in wet conditions. Lube just makes the drivetrain harder to clean, and more likely to wear faster.

a) If we have sent you the incorrect bicycle, we will cover the cost of collection and delivery of the correct model. The KMC X-Series has been designed with the specific characteristics of the Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo systems in mind and will meet the most demanding requirements. Elaborately designed and manufactured, the X-Bridge technology, thanks to precisely chamfered plates, allows smooth propulsion and perfect gear changes in all driving situations.I have 12 speed XT (shifter, cassette, chain, derailleur) on my Altitude. Recently fitted a gold KMC X12 chain as the Shimano 8100 chain isn't plated and goes rusty very easily, thought i would try something different and add a little gold bling to match the bike. For year-round mountain biking, I recommend a wax-based chain lube like Boeshield for wet conditions, and leaving the chain clean and un-lubed for dry conditions. If you keep your chain clean between rides, and ride regularly, I'd still expect you to go through 2-3 chains a year. Offering high performance and maximum durability, the KMC E12 EPT chain is a perfect choice for 12-speed derailleurs. Including faster and smoother shifts and longer chain life. your device and retrieve them from your device. However, some content will then not be available - for example, product Keep in mind that chains don't actually stretch. They get longer as the chain's plates wear grooves into its pins and rollers. To make it last longer, you either need a near-magical* engineering solution from the manufacturer, or you need to reduce the friction.
