About this deal

Gordon Takes a Tumble | Henry and the Elephant | Percy Takes a Plunge | Thomas and the Special Letter | James and the Trouble with Trees | Spic and Span | Diesel from Thomas to the Rescue | Emily's Adventure Thomas spends all day working on his own, but it is hard work and he continues causing problems. Late in the afternoon, James pulls in with Annie and Clarabel and screeches to a stop next to Thomas, who notices a smoky smell. It is coming from James' wooden brakes, but James pretends not to notice. Thomas sees Henry taking on water and asks him why he is afraid of rain, explaining how it is only water, just like he puts in his boiler and that he should not spend all day worrying. Henry claims that he is usually very happy, when it is sunny. When I think about crossing the start line, running the race in front of the Japanese supporters, for whom marathon running is a key national sport, and (hopefully) crossing the finish line, I get quite emotional. I am usually crying when I cross the finish line of any marathon and I suspect this will be no different! I also pushed forward with my mountaineering, spending some wonderful time in beautiful Snowdonia, Scotland and the Alps, with patient and thoughtful guides who are helping me build my confidence, learn new skills and come to terms with the tragedy that occurred on my mountain expedition in 2021. Running at 45 minutes, this was the shortest Thomas & Friends special until the twenty-third series half-hour episodes. It still holds the record for being the shortest film in the franchise. Thomas happily chuffs along the branch line with Annie and Clarabel. He pulls into Ffarquhar and is surprised to see a coffee pot engine on one of the sidings, covered in moss. The engine tells him to wear his Number One with pride and as Thomas leaves, the engine introduces himself as Glynn. Thomas continues on his way, as happy as can be to be starting his new life on the Island of Sodor. When Thomas approaches Tidmouth Sheds for the first time, Edward's boiler stripes and the bottom half of his smokebox are missing. The first time the runaway theme has been heard since the sixth series in the US and the seventh series in the UK. Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far they can go.” – T.S. Eliot Short adventure quotes: Final thoughts

When Gordon first talks to Edward, he passes a signal at least three times between shots. Also, the light of the signal changes from red to green in between the shots. The journey to Tokyo 2023 has been an absolute joy (although at mile 16 of every marathon, I can guarantee you I wasn’t thinking that!). I really can’t wait for the race! In one of the promotional images of James during the runaway scene, he has a different brake van than the one in the rendered special. The first and only time Peter Hartshorne composed the music for a special on his own without help from Robert Hartshorne his father.
