About this deal

The Huawei B535 - also known as the Three 4G Hub or the Huawei HomeFi Plus - is a 4G home broadband router, which, as well as being able to buy SIM-free from some stores, you can also get on contract from Three. But there’s more than just speed here, asthe Huawei B535 supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. This is another fairly standard thing in routers, but not always found in 4G ones, especially older models. Features and software In reply to a post by davidc01:My neighbours must think I'm crazy... the lengths I go for better ping times! The firmware we all know what is. The WebUI, is that a separate software deployment? my guess would be yes! Just like in programming this must be the View part of the MVC pattern. Who deploys the WebUI - is it telco/ISP or manufactor/Huawei? And my guess is that the WebUI is basically just the HTML interface to configure the hardware.

At a risk of sounding like a conspiracy theorist, maybe they don't want home broadband LTE customers to have a really fast connection and hammer every single mast's bandwidth? They know folks with 5g and 4g mobiles will mostly just use data in a bursty fashion regardless of how high end (higher CAT level) it is. So could it be done deliberately to hobble home users? I’m not aware of any way to change the network profile that’s been installed on the device by the supplier.Still got my magic bandwidth this morning - it's such a relief! If this stays stable I might even ditch my 350MB virgin connection that somehow has latency that reaches seconds at times. Once the update process is successful, your Huawei phone will restart automatically & verify the system image. But we are both (the other guy at Reddit) running the same firmware version. The only difference is the WebUI version. If I flash my firmware to the same version I am already running I would probably not gain anything. Are there any with external antenna connections as well as ethernet ports? Really not bothered about wi-fi, but I do want to use a network cable and directional antennas

He specialisesin smartphones, mobile networks/ technology, tablets, and wearables. About the SSH. I don't know I just asked. My thought was to use SSH now that the WebUI didn't presented the bridgemode option. QAM seems to have a fairly big difference though 50Mbps for 64 increase vs 16 though so would be a shame not to try it ? No way to know if mast is more than band 6 is there ? And does that even take QAM into account ? That makes it a lot more convenient than fibre broadband. There’s very little waiting and if you move house you can easily take your Huawei B535 with you. Performance & SpeedsSo read on to see whether the Huawei B535 is worth hanging on to (or buying in the first place) or whether you’re better off with something different. Design The main point from all of this is not to expect a great deal of stability from a 4G network and expect that things like drastic speed changes even during the same day are going to be common.

Here’s where things get a bit more complicated, as while the Huawei B535 WebBox is a good performer by 4G router standards, it’s no match for a 5G router or many wired connections. And the actual speeds you get will in large part depend on your coverage. Once set up, there’s a lot to like here. The B535 WebBox can get up to 64 devices online at once, which ismore than most people should need. It’s also a match for the Three 4G Hub, the Three 5G Hub, and the likes of the 4GEE Home Router 2, as well as topping the Vodafone GigaCube 4G. In reply to a post by buggerlugs:Interestingly the MR600 is cat 6 and the B535 is cat 7, so realistically (depending on antenna quality) the B535 "should" provide a better, faster, connection. The MR600 ran faultlessly for over week while I worked from home - video conferences never dropped. The kids can game on both PS4 with voice chat and the Nintendo Switch which is notoriously fussy given the P2P nature of its online service. I watched Solo on Disney+ which it says is 4K and YouTube usually defaults to 720p. Typically I get between 40mbps to 120ish if speedtest.net is to be believed. Streaming seems to work ok most of the time, but only after a lot of dilly dallying.
