Another Star" slips in KILLER solos and a hyper-catchy "na na na na na na na na na na" chant during its three-minute coda, and it rules. All Day Sucker" (with help from "Carolyn Dennis" on Vocals, and "WG "Snuffy" Walden" on Guitar) is a "Funk" dream!
Makes it feel like they were part of the original set listing all along (and probably should've been at the time).I am worried, however, on coming back to this Stevie Wonder album after 30 years, that the impact it has on me is just a nostalgia for my youth - and I don't usually suffer from nostalgia and it makes me wonder if I am turning into my acquaintance.
But, again, "Stevie" applied no rules on this joint, using "Orchestration" inspired melodies to take you on a musical journey with thought provoking lyrics (that's why "Coolio" had to use it for "Gansta's Paradise").There are a few random fillers strewn about here and there that are nicely produced and all but shallow, like the synth-driven "Have a Talk With God," the instrumental "Contusion," and the admittedly pretty but not very memorable "If It's Magic.
