About this deal

If you are a tarantino fan you probably dont need to read this review - except to waste some time while you wait for your 4k bluray to arrive. You are a fan? Self-preservation is an instinct you possess? You are getting this new release and you will be happy. It's some gourmet shit. What is perhaps Tarantino’s finest effort arrives in a magnificent 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray restoration from Paramount. Highly recommended. Pulp Fiction is out in Limited-Edition 4K SteelBook and 4K Ultra HD Combo December 6, 2022, from Paramount Home Entertainment

Pulp Fiction is most decidedly a classic film but, depending on who you talk to, the reaction to it isn’t in line with what we envision when we think of a true “classic”. Be that as it may, there is no doubt that writer/director Quentin Tarantino got it right. Among my favorite films, I love it for its rich, eclectic dialogue, ironic use of humor, and wonderfully infused pop culture/references, that combine with its edgy neo-noir, to make for one of the most entertaining films of the nineties. Overall, this is a very nice looking steelbook, and a welcome addition to the growing Tarantino 4K collection. Film: remembered as the most gorgeous UHD in existence, but what the picture does do is offer a healthy and naturally occurring image that offers a solid Maynard, Zed and Marsellus, Jimmy (entirely), Fabienne (entirely), and Vincent/Butch and the toaster. There’s a good selection of extras included, mostly on the Blu-ray, which is the same disc and transfer as old release. We don’t get an audio commentary unfortunately (Tarantino doesn’t seem to be a fan of them, not having done one since the DVD release of Reservoir Dogs), but we do get over 4 hours of extras, including cast interviews, behind the scenes featurettes, critical reaction to the film, marketing materials, and an hour long interview with the man himself.

Writer-director Quentin Tarantino delivers an unforgettable cast of characters— including a pair of low-rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L. achieving a healthier, more complex appearance that satisfies all essential requirements for a shot-on-film picture making the transition to the UHD While this is not a UHD that is going to blow everyone away with a "wow" factor, it is a very stable and healthy image and one that offers a Rating Certificate: R (for strong graphic violence and drug use, pervasive strong language and some sexuality)

For those not familiar with the details regarding Ultra HD Blu-ray you can refer to my article that includes some pertinent data on the subject. Here is the link: The subtle minutia visible in the clothing and facial features among the members of the cast was striking. Grain remains intact, with an even and, primarily filmic essence, that underscores the thematic content. The color range in the film is surprisingly broad and, the rendering of both primary and secondary colors proves gratifying and contrastingly vivid.
