Complete Emollient Therapy, or CET, involves the frequent and liberal application of emollient moisturisers to the skin, and the replacement of wash products with emollient equivalents. Very rarely, hypersensitivity including anaphylactic reaction (see sections 4.3 and 4.4) is possible (based on literature for chlorhexidine-containing products). Recommendations for referral to secondary care, from the guidelines for management of atopic eczema from the Primary Care Dermatology Society and British Association of Dermatologists. The product is available in a plastic bottle containing 500 ml. The cap is designed to hold 10 ml of product and can be used to help measure out the required quantity to add to the bath (see Section 3).

Try to avoid using normal soaps or bath additives (even those labelled “moisturising”). This is because they tend to dry and irritate the skin. Avoid using products containing fragrances, as these can also cause skin problems. You should try to use a fragrance-free emollient “soap substitute” instead. This type of product will not foam or lather but will be better for your dry skin condition. Patients with dry skin conditions have a deficiency of the natural oils which assist in the retention of moisture. In addition, Hydromol Cream also leaves a fine layer of emollient on the skin that helps reduce transepidermal water loss, and keep irritants out. 2 soften, moisturise and protect your skin by trapping moisture in the skin and restoring the normal protective function of the skin.Add approximately 15 to 20 ml (1½ to 2 capfuls) to a normal sized bath filled with water to a depth of roughly 20 cm (8 inches). By forming an occlusive layer on the skin, it helps to protect the skin, and r educe transepidermal water loss. The active ingredients in this product are liquid paraffin and acetylated wool alcohols. These are known as emollients. When used as part of your bathing routine, the product helps to; Eczema is an inflammatory skin condition that causes dry skin, itchiness, rashes, blistering, and skin infections. There are a number of different types of eczema.

These reactions are very rare (<1/10,000, based on spontaneous reporting) and may be irritant or allergic in nature. Reactions have been observed occasionally when used excessively as a leave-on application in areas of folded skin such as the anogenital area. Combines the actions of a humectant with the occlusive properties of Paraffin, to help lubricate and enhance the water capacity of the skin. 3 The active ingredients in this product are liquid paraffin (65% w/w) and acetylated wool alcohols (5% w/w). This product has been specially designed for use on dry or problem skin, but in some rare cases it can cause irritant or allergic skin reactions on extremely sensitive skin. These rare effects tend to occur during or soon after the first few uses. prevent the skin-drying and irritant effects that can be caused by washing and bathing and by the soaps, foaming additives and fragrances used in ordinary bathing / showering products.Hydromol Bath & Shower Emollient works in two ways. Hydromol Intensive is used to relieve the discomfort of clinically dry skin conditions. It contains a high concentration of urea, a component of the skin’s own Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It acts as a humectant to moisturise the skin from the inside. It can make your bath slippery, so be careful to avoid slipping over when getting into and out of your bath. Be careful when handling babies and young children.

A key feature of Hydromol Bath & Shower Emollient is that in trials it has been shown to leave less oily residue on bath surfaces than other frequently prescribed bath emollients. 7 It is a highly occlusive 3-in-1 emollient that can be used as an all-purpose emollient, bath additive and as an alternative to soap.

Dermol 200 Shower Emollient contains 5% of emollient oils in a non-greasy aqueous system which also contains the well-known and effective antiseptics benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine dihydrochloride. Its antimicrobial properties assist in overcoming infection, whether from Staph aureus, the pathogen which often complicates eczema and associated pruritus, or secondary infection caused by scratching. Some dry skin conditions like eczema and dermatitis are itchy, and can be quite sore. Although scratching relieves the itching for a short while, it further damages the skin. Badly scratched skin easily gets infected. This makes it itchier and the urge to scratch becomes even greater. It is better if scratching can be avoided by reducing the itching. The regular use of emollients or moisturisers can help with this. Like all medicines, Dermalo Bath Emollient can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
