About this deal

During a scene at a circus the announcer presents "The Mighty Donovan". "The Mighty O'Donovan" is Donovan "Red" Grant's father, referenced in From Russia with Love. One thing about this category, is that it's interesting to view the perspective of the illustrator, how they saw the image of the book in their mind, although I can't mark them down if the tree I imagined had brown leaves instead of dark green leaves, as I have not read the actual book.

Young James Bond starts College and while going home for vacation in Scotland gets involved in the mysterious disappearance of a young man who was fishing close by a castle. It's James Bond's first day at Eton, and he's already met his first enemy. This is the start of an adventure that will take him from the school playing fields to the remote shores of Loch Silverfin and a terrifying discovery that threatens to unleash a new breed of warfare.SilverFin is the first novel in the Young Bond series that depicts Ian Fleming's superspy James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s. It was written by Charlie Higson and released in the United Kingdom on March 3, 2005 by Puffin Books in conjunction with a large marketing campaign; a Canadian release of the same edition occurred in late March. The United States edition, which was slightly edited for content, was released on April 27, 2005 by Miramax Books. In the second section of the book, James travels to Scotland on spring break to visit his Aunt Charmian and Uncle Max, who is dying of cancer. During this visit, the cause of James's parents’ deaths is revealed, and James learns more about his uncle's history as a spy during World War I. James also meets a few friends, including an older boy, Red, and a love interest, Wilder Lawless. James and Red travel to the nearby Hellebore estate, which includes Loch Silverfin. At the estate, the two meet Mike Moran, a Pinkerton detective investigating Lord Hellebore at the request of his wife, who suspects Hellebore of having killed his own brother, Algar, because he was having an affair with Lady Hellebore. The boys find Detective Moran dead in Loch Silverfin, with his body mostly eaten by the carnivorous eels. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. First Limited Edition Thus. As new. The only real problem that I have with this graphic novel is that it is incredibly fast-paced. Bond makes a friend at school - all we know about him is that he is smart, nice, a bit pudgy and from India. What else about his schooling at Eton? There seem to be a lot of ... Silverfin, a Level 1 Reader, is A1 in the CEFR framework. Short sentences contain a maximum of two clauses, introducing the past simple tense and some simple modals, adverbs and gerunds. Illustrations support the text throughout, and many titles at this level are graphic novels. There’s something in the water at Loch Silverfin. Something deadly. Something that must be kept secret…

SPECIAL EDITION, being the first edition thus, with a new introductory essay by Charlie Higson and an excerpt from the next Young Bond adventure 'Bloodfever'. Pp372 + [8]. Publisher's pictorial silver-coloured softcovers. A fine / as new copy. The first episode in the acclaimed 'Young Bond' series, which follows the adventures of a teenage James Bond whilst at Eton School. SilverFin 's success spawned a mobile game published by PlayerOne on January 5, 2006 in conjunction with the release of the second novel in the Young Bond series, Blood Fever. The game features three locations, 15 levels, and a variety of enemies that the player must avoid. The book may appeal to serious Bond fans, but for students who are looking for mystery and adventure, Anthony Horowitz's "Alex Rider" books (Philomel) are a better choice.-Angela M. Boccuzzi-Reichert James’s classical tutor, also in charge of athletics at Eton, Merriot becomes something of a mentor to James. Although part of the Eton system, he admires independent thinking. Something new I learnt from this book is NEVER be a spy just like the quote, because if you do, you will probably, get Eel serum injected to your body, have a narrow escape from flesh peeling eels, nearly get shot in the face by a double barrel shotgun, and experience a narrow escape from a purple eyed beast who ( SPOILER ALERT SO DON"T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU, OK?! ) kills the evil possessed madman.
