To extend the life of your tent floor, we recommend using a Big Agnes footprint or ground cloth. The Big Agnes footprint also enables you to pitch a lightweight, Fast Fly shelter while leaving the tent body behind. The Fast Fly configuration requires the footprint, tent fly, poles, and stakes. Big Agnes is the first to introduce solution-dyed fabrics to their equipment category. Solution-dyed fabrics have colour pigments added at the initial stage of production rather than being 'washed-in' post-production. This creates a far more sustainable and eco-friendly friendly process with the following benefits: Fly material: fly (15d) and floor (20d) are silicone-treated ripstop nylon with 1200 mm waterproof polyurethane coating Most manufacturers recommend the use of a footprint to extend the life of the groundsheet of your tent, but if you've just bought an ultralight tent do you really want to carry the extra weight associated with it? And if you always need a footprint then why don't the manufacturers just beef up the floor fabric? You can still buy the original version in the UK, but the newer, more eco-friendly version has clear benefits in the manufacturing process. There is a 50% reduction in the water required (nearly 5 gallons of water saved per tent produced), an 80% reduction in energy use (thus significantly reducing carbon emissions) and a further 80% reduction in the use of chemicals (for a cleaner, safer dyeing and finishing process). Impressive stuff – well done Big Agnes. Tester’s Verdict Big Agnes' Fly Creek HV UL1 Solution Dye Tent has had a serious overhaul. A key feature being rolled out across a number of Big Agnes tents is the use of solution dyed fabrics. This is a great move for a number of reasons, firstly the positive environmental impacts which see a significant reduction in both energy and water consumption during manufacture. Secondly, this process means the tents are much more resistant to colour fade from UV. On a practical level, the tent benefits from a slight change in the pole design which now provides steeper walls, more headroom and a wider door opening which all make this version feel much more spacious and more usable.

Increased usable interior space without increasing weight using single-pole DAC Angle SF Hub, plus more usable volume added to the vestibule with vertical door construction Finally, on Big Agnes in particular, they are good at minimizing the weight of the footprint so if you buy a tent from their ultralight range then you get an ultralight footprint - not all brands seem to understand the importance of this. Fly and floor: proprietary ultralight double ripstop mixed denier water-repellent silicone treated nylon, with solution-dyed ripstop grid and 1200mm waterproof, polyurethane coating The updated Tiger Wall is still an ultralight, three season, free standing tent but it now uses new environmentally friendly fabrics. It retains the lightweight, spacious design with dual vestibule and practical features. The updated Tiger Wall UL SD features solution-dyed fabrics that improve the quality of the tent fabric to deliver greater UV resistance while drastically reducing energy consumption and water usage at the point of production for a cleaner, greener design. Seams are taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape while both flysheet and floor feature a silicone-treated nylon ripstop with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating for premium wet weather protection. Increased airflow with low vent feature on the vestibule doors and double sliders on the vestibule zippers for venting from the top or bottom Brand new for 2021, the Big Agnes Tiger Wall UL1 has been redesigned using a solution-dyed fabric that is highly resistant to UV fade and drastically reduces energy consumption and water use during manufacturing, a process that is better for the environment and that “improves the quality of the tent fabric”, according to the brand. Ready to pitch with pre-cut guy lines and tensioners attached to fly, and extra stability with velcro tabs that connect fly to pole structure Dry, dirt-free changing and gear storage with extended footprint creates a vestibule floor, sold separately

The flysheet and groundsheet are made from a silicone-treated ripstop nylon with a 1,200mm hydrostatic head rating and an additional PU coating, while the tent inner is a breathable ripstop nylon with polyester mesh. All seams are taped with a waterproof, solvent free PU tape and the poles are DAC Featherlite. The Tiger Wall UL1 is Big Agnes' lightest technical tent, now redesigned using solution-dyed fabric that is highly resistant to UV fade and drastically reduces energy consumption and water use during manufacturing, a process that is better for the environment and improves the quality of the tent fabric. Single pole architecture using DAC Featherlite materials create a simple, yet strong and sturdy structure you can rely on through multi-day trip For a two man tent weighing 904g, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that you might sacrifice on durability. The tent has a 15- denier floor and rainfly, which is extremely thin and should be treated with care - and used with a footprint on most occasions to extend its lifespan.Increased airflow and reduced condensation through fly vent with low vent feature on the vestibule doors for more airflow while still providing vestibule coverage Big Agnes' Tiger Wall UL2 Solution Dye Tent has had a welcome update.
