Protecting the dial of this timepiece is an acrylic plastic window lens. This is a very basic type of lens that has its own benefits and disadvantages. The main disadvantage is how easily the screen can scratch, on the plus side though most scratches can easily be buffed out with the right technique. It’s a lens that’s often found on either cheaper or more traditionally built watches. There are several places around the world where time zones are differentiated by half hours rather than full hours (and a couple are even offset by 45 minutes!). Newfoundland here in Canada is 30 minutes ahead of Atlantic Time (1.5 hours ahead of Eastern Time).
