Huawei and thus also the subsidiary Honor may no longer be supplied with technology by American companies. Now the manufacturer is taking a divided path: Some smartphones are simply minimally modified predecessors that still have Google certification, others come completely without Google apps and, above all, the Google services that many apps use. The Honor 9X Lite belongs to the first category, still offers Android 9 and looks quite similar to the older Honor 8X. The Honor 9X Lite is a remake of the Honor 8X with new camera and old software. Without serious weaknesses and with quite a lot of memory it can still convince despite older components. Should one be angry with Honor for only launching a slightly modified version of the Honor 8X with the Honor 9X Lite or praise that there is a camera that focuses on contemporary pixel binning and that the manufacturer offers a lot of memory for the price? Pairing with the bottom microphone allows for voice calls to be clearer thanks to noise cancelation, it also means you get decent audio recording when in video mode. Mitään suurempia ongelmia ei kuitenkaan tullut vastaan, jotka olisivat haitanneet päivittäistä käyttöä. Yhteenveto Honor 9X Lite on myös yksi harvoista Huawein ja Honorin älypuhelimista, jossa on edelleen tutut Googlen palvelut ja tämä johtuu juuri siitä, ettei kyseessä ole todellisuudessa uusi puhelin. Honor pystyy hyödyntämään puhelimessa jo Honor 8X:n kohdalla saatua Googlen sertifiointia, joka on toisaalta hyvä asia, mutta myös huono. Android-käyttöjärjestelmän päällä Honor 9X Litessä toimii EMUI 9.1 -käyttöliittymä.

Puhelimessa on kuitenkin paljon heikkouksia sekä vanhentunutta tekniikkaa. Kirin 710 -järjestelmäpiiristä on jo olemassa tuoreempia ja tehokkaampia versioita, joista yksi on muun muassa Huawei P40 Litessä nähty Kirin 810. Honor 9X Liten yksi suurimmista heikkouksista on micro-USB-liitin, jollaista ei enää vuonna 2020 saisi löytyä mistään yli 150 euroa maksavasta älypuhelimesta. Yksi kysymysmerkki puhelimessa on myös Android 10 -päivitys ja päivitettävyys yleisestikin tulevaisuudessa.
