About this deal

On the positive side, when the Dell is operating in HDR mode its peak brightness of 462 nits is joined by a very low black point, which means you get colossal contrast – you can see the extra punch and depth when compared to SDR. Thanks to its low input lag and high refresh rate, it promises to deliver a fast gaming experience compared to other mid-level models.

The Dell S3220DGF gaming monitor offers superb core image quality inside an immersive, rock-solid and subtle design. The 2560 x 1440 resolution stretches across the 32in display, and this is a sensible mainstream figure. As with gaming, the Dell is ideal for mainstream situations, but it doesn’t have the versatility for anything beyond that, so content creators should look elswhere. The Dell S3220DGF’s 32in diagonal means this screen is on the large side, and it has an 1800R curve which is entirely standard for a gaming display. There are two ways to approach this monitor and they will be addressed separately for those for which the first time user scenario does not apply. This is a Freesync 2 display and not on the list of G-SYNC compatible monitors, however it functions perfectly well in tandem with my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 GAMING Advanced. On the other hand, that small loss in total screen size comes with significant benefits over the old monitors and was not much of a sacrifice to make. The 165Hz ceiling is simply better than the 144Hz that is more commonly found on high refresh rate displays and Freesync 2 does improve on how the display responds to input.

I encountered many other posts online of this issue, wherein I discovered that a refurbished monitor exchangemanufactured after June 2, 2020 was required to fix the issue with an updated monitor EDID. The only audience that would be an outlier for this would be those who are more into competitive gaming then you should be looking at TN panels or smaller size monitors of 24 to 27 inch in size with higher refresh rates. There is a Freesync toggle on the monitor which you need to enable before playing with adaptive sync in your driver, be it AMD or NVIDIA.
