About this deal

The Disappearance/Leigh Bardugo has an ending that had me questioning a few things and was food for thought! Miss Marple’s determined nature and her passion for both justice and retribution remain the same, although this time round she is able to pass comment on more contemporary matters and express her belief in equality. She was also under enormous pressure to produce the follow-up to her most recent success, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

Authors featured in this collection, Naomi Alderman, Leigh Bardugo, Alyssa Cole, Lucy Foley, Elly Griffiths, Natalie Haynes, Jean Kwok, Val McDermid, Karen M. One (male) journalist even suggested that she had deliberately set out to frame her husband for murder. Jane Marple is a famous fictional detective and one of my favorites, so I had to dive in and catch up with her through the words of these twelve authors. In The Disappearance, Leigh Bardugo reunites Miss Marple with the marvellous Dolly Bantry and has the pair investigate the disappearance of the handsome Michael Barnsley-Davis from Gossington Hall just days before he was due to get married.

Miss Marple is also fortuitously present to solve the murder of an unpopular choir mistress in Lucy Foley’s Evil in Small Places.

Featuring stories from Naomi Alderman, Leigh Bardugo, Alyssa Cole, Lucy Foley, Elly Griffiths, Natalie Haynes, Jean Kwok, Val McDermid, Karen M. It was the fact that she was shamed for her illness in the national newspapers in such a public way that people ever since have suspected her of duplicity and lies. The Jade Empress was entertaining, but my credulity was stretched too far by the concept of Miss Marple joining in with Tai Chi. I've always preferred Miss Marple to Hercule Poirot, not so much about solving murders but because her astute observations of people reminded me so much of my great aunt. These various authors have reimagined Jane Marple in the 1970s and most stories feature her author nephew Raymond West and his wife Joan. The metadata of the book is - as per usual - a terrible mess: some stories are contained in one chapter, others are divided across multiple chapters; none of the stories are recognisable as the titles are missing.

Mary Mead's most famous spinster, Miss Jane Marple, in a short story published in The Royal Magazine. Second, although the stories could feature characters and events from Christie’s own Miss Marple works, the authors couldn’t incorporate characters or incidences from her non-Marple tales. If you love Miss Marple and desperately wish there were more stories featuring her sleuthing talents, you're in luck.By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. The upside, however, is that the stories come from some of the most talented women in modern mystery and crime fiction. From the Miss Marple short stories we know that she was often taken into others confidences, but based on their background, they never would have done what takes place in this one. McManus, Dreda Say Mitchell, Kate Mosse, Ruth Ware Miss, this is a new collection of short stories featuring legendary detective Jane Marple.

McManus, Kate Mosse, Leigh Bardugo, Lucy Foley, Naomi Alderman, Natalie Haynes, Ruth Ware, Val McDermid books, you’ve come to the right place. Per usual, I am going to rate each story individually so you all can see how I got to my group rating for the collection.

These three seemed to have a little more substance and depth than the others, no mean feat in a short story! I also though Karen McManus's story did very well on tone, although Miss Marple is not the one who actually solves the mystery, which was kind of a disappointment. She and her father were interviewed in The Sunday Times "Relative Values" feature on 11 February 2007. Let us know what you think of Marple by Agatha Christie, Alyssa Cole, Dreda Say Mitchell, Elly Griffiths, Jean Kwok, Karen M.
