In the Japanese dub, Dragonzord Battle Mode was named as Mega Dragonzord, while Mega Dragonzord was named as Ultrazord. Lightning Blasts: Saban is able to fire white lightning beams from his eyes strong enough to take down Pursehead and destroy his floss ropes. Tommy Oliver possesses the Dragon Power Coin which gives him the power to transform into the Green Power Ranger, possessing the Dragon Shield, which makes him stronger than the other Power Rangers, and armed with the Dragon Dagger and the Sword of Darkness. The Dragonzord's design is similar to that of ' MechaGodzilla’, a monster from the Godzilla movie franchise. Its method of rising from the ocean is also reminiscent of Godzilla. When Lorenzo found the Dagger sometime before the events of the story, the whole weapon is entirely gold, with the fuller remains green. The weapon is also revealed to be sentient; when he gave the weapon to the Rider Operators, he entrusts them to unseal the weapon. The Riders eventually unsealed the Dagger into its usual appearance when it sensed Orphnoch blood, the music emitted from the weapon can usually produce warp panels to go through dimensional areas, etc.
Equally, another in-joke associated with Saba is that he was voiced by producer Tony Oliver who also served as the namesake for his wielder Tommy Oliver. Later, when Lord Zedd took over from Rita and sent his Pirantishead monster to Earth, Dragonzord was corrupted by the creature, who froze four of the Dinozords and turned Dragonzord and the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord against the Power Rangers.
