The Natural Bridges State Beach in California is home to a few beautiful sea arch specimens, which can be explored during low tides. Besides this, visitors can also enjoy local tide pools and view seasonal monarch butterfly migrations. Pfeiffer beach also offers spectacular views of the resident keyhole sea arch, which beautifully focuses the rays of the sun during sunset. Supposedly there is a cave called Baðstofuhellir inside the cliff, but I have never managed to see it - it has been described as very colourful in a certain light. A narrow fissure through the roof of a sea arch is called a blow hole or a spouting horn because the wave action compresses and squeezes out the air from the sea caves through blow holes making a peculiar noise. 9. They are characterized by an accumulation of a wide range of sediment types and by many varied coastal environments. The sediment is dominated by mud and sand; however, some gravel may be present, especially in the form of shell material. There is a lovely little café called Fjöruhúsið right by the seaat Hellnar. It opened in 1997 and is very popular amongst Icelanders as well as foreign visitors. We Icelanders are brought up to fear the dangerous powers of our country, which resulted in me being extra careful when travelling.
