It’s from a single POV… sort of. 😉 And it starts off with two families (two sets of parents, their teens, & their BFFs) that head out to their rustic cabin on a winter wonderland retreat, traveling there in a travel trailer of sorts. Everyone is excited and happy. Well… for the most part. People in close quarters and difficult circumstances show their true colors.

On the surface this book is about a tragedy, a single cataclysmic event that shatters a family and the aftermath of the choices and decisions made over the course of those two days. For me, the most intriguing aspect was what those choices revealed.

I love reaction fics. I love them so much! BUT! I can't find any reaction fic like the one I'm doing, and since I'm re-reading the novel anyway, I'm writing it myself. I had high hopes for this should-have-been emotional, heart wrenching story. This is a well-loved book that I had been looking forward to reading since it’s release a few years ago. Unfortunately I didn’t connect with it other than appreciating the short chapters and the cold, wintry atmosphere the author created. As the novel progressed, I felt the story dragged on and I had to push myself to continue. FIRST OFF!!! GO IN BLIND – not even the synopsis – if you’re okay with (and even LOVE) INTENSE, good or bad SURPRISES!!! Even skip over my review altogether and just go read it for an unforgettable story. 😉There were characters I enjoyed. There were also characters who infuriated me with their terrible and selfish decisions (both during the storm and in the aftermath). It was hard to connect with them. However, I also think that is the point author Suzanne Redfearn was trying to show. How do any of us know what we would do if we were in this devastatingly dangerous situation?
