The other great sounding section is the battle between Agent Smith and Neo, which you'll hear the rain, thunder, and lightning strikes, but that's just the beginning. Every window break with glass falling to the ground and vehicle being smashed, you'll hear each individual noise that comes with this carnage. Then you have the multiple Agents talking with reverb and the punches that connect with a heavy snap of bass each time. It's incredible the amount of time and love that went into making this audio presentation. It's smooth, loud, and perfect for the Atmos setup. Don Davis' score always adds to the futuristic chaos in each scene that keeps things lively and suspenseful. Dialogue is always clear and easy to follow along with in the quieter moments, which gears us up for the impending doom and action. As with the second film, Revolutions was shot on 35mm film, with effects finished at 2K. The original camera negative has been scanned at 4K and remastered here to stunning effect, rendering the sequel with a wonderfully filmic texture that earns it a whole new lease of life. This is another highly welcome full-fat native 4K release to add to the great releases we've had this year ( Die Hard 4K, Gladiator 4K, Jurassic Park 4K and, in terms of recent productions, Blade Runner 2049 4K or even The Greatest Showman 4K) That said, if you own a 4K TV with Dolby Vision or HDR10 capability, forget the new Blu-ray because THIS 4K Blu-ray is the ultimate way to watch The Matrix. It's worth stressing, however, that this is not the kind of controversial remix that adds new effects

Available on both the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray ( thank you, Warners!), The Matrix roars to life with an intense, reference quality Atmos mix that's sure to test the accuracy of any Dolby Atmos home theater system or sound bar. The movie has been a go-to demo disc since the days of DVD, but this is a whole other level. Much like the 4K releases of both The Matrixand The Matrix Reloaded, this third and final Matrix film is simply magnificent with its new 2160p transfer with HDR and Dolby Vision. The Matrix Revolutions4K transfer was supervised by cinematographer Bill Pope and Jan Yarbrough to give the best possible video presentation and they succeeded in every way. There's a certain color palette with this futuristic trilogy and the third one is no different, although it might be a bit more dynamic being the most recent. These are stylistic choices made by the Wachowski siblings and Bill Pope to give us a subtle sense of the real world and when we are in the Matrix world. When in the Matrix world, there are varying shades of green throughout. It's as if there are green filters everywhere, but with this new 4K UHD transfer in Dolby Vision and HDR, each set piece, prop and color are much more fluid and discernible. Interestingly enough, in The Matrix Revolutions, Neo is placed in limbo type area between the real world and the Matrix, one of them being a subway station.

Certainly the worst of the three, The Matrix Revolutions is at times a bit of a mess. But it’s still worth a watch if you want to be completely up to date ahead of the new film. There will also be a few familiar faces for Sense8 fans as Brian J Smith as Berg, Toby Onwumere as Sequoia, and Eréndira Ibarra as Lexy. In June 2021 (after filming had wrapped) it was revealed that the movie will also star Christina Ricci. Sure, it was an impossible, thankless task, but that's doesn't make it any less forgivable, unfortunately. Sure, Neo was never supposed to turn godlike so soon in the movies, leaving the siblings with nowhere to go in terms of their original, planned revelations. But the twisty-turny journey to the 'truth' as expounded by the nonsense-spouting Architect was a death knell to this series; a bell which couldn't be un-rung.While I wouldn't call The Matrix 4K Blu-ray perfect, it's an impressive, obvious upgrade over both the original Blu-ray and the newly remastered one also included in this set. Nokia flip phones aren't as cool in the face of touchscreen smartphones (but we'd love to get our hands on a Nokia 7110). And who doesn't start moving their head to the beat of Rage Against the Machine's Wake Up? Just us then? The score by Don Davis is unique, a singular piece of work. Bill Pope's cinematography is beautifully composed and Woo-Ping Yuen's action choreography brings that Hong Kong flavour that was much-imitated but not equalled. Kym Barret's costume design looks wonderful in 4K, though we'll always find the amount of PVC clothing a bit much. Some of these featurettes are pretty good, while others are more cursory and promotional. Resurrecting The Matrix, Neo x Trinity, and Allies + Adversaries are the best of the lot, offering revealing insights on Lana’s reasons for returning to the franchise, the actors’ perspectives on what the characters mean to them, and various crew perspectives. No One Can Be Told What The Matrix Is is fascinating for a more unexpected reason; the actors are each asked to summarize the plot of the previous Matrix films and… well, the results are pretty amusing. The Matrix Reactions clips are short glimpses behind-the-scenes on the production itself, focusing on the making of key scenes, sequences, and stunts. Sadly, there’s no audio commentary here, but you do at least get a Movies Anywhere Digital code on a paper insert.
