About this deal

By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. I love reading and enjoy crime thrillers, romance, and classic novels so I am really lucky to work at World of Books! We regularly hear stories in the press about people being scammed out of thousands of pounds due to fake internet dating partners. His novels, which include the bestselling Roy Grace series, have been translated into 36 languages, with worldwide sales of 19 million copies.

You can read this novel on its own or as part of the series, making it very accessible for those new to James’ work.

The scam romances have been expertly coordinated by Jules de Copeland, ne Tunde Oganjimi, and his cousin Kofi Okonjo, aka Dunstan Ogwang, a pair of Ghanaians convinced that their actions are morally justified by the West’s centuries of imperialism and alarmingly willing to cover their tracks by whatever violent means necessary. As Jules de Copeland closes in on Lynda Merrill and the 450,000 pounds she’s promised Richie Griffiths, Roberts, Sorokin, and Tooth, working very much at odds with each other, all compete with the police for the prize of grabbing and neutralizing him without endangering his woefully credulous target. The two men are about to discover they’ve been scammed out of almost every penny they have in the world – and that neither women exist. Across the Atlantic, a retired NYPD cop waits in a bar in Florida's Key West for his first date with the lady who is, without question, his soulmate.

Another theme running through the series is the banter between Grace and his fellow cop and best friend Glenn Branson but that is also, for the most part, missing from the book. The story does well to reveal how very different an investigation on cyber-crime is from ordinary crime. What we know so far from our investigations is that this lady had discovered her identity is used by a “romance fraud” gang. A global empire built on clever, cruel internet scams and the murder of anyone who threatens to expose them. She leaves behind no memories worth keeping: her husband is dead, her boss has made no bones about disliking her, and she’s looking forward to new responsibilities and the higher salary underwritten by North Dakota’s sudden oil boom. He’s discovered his identity is being used to scam eleven different women who are looking for love online. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace investigates when a young woman’s body is found butchered in Brighton.

Peter takes his readers on a thrill ride, and hopefully we’ve managed to capture some of that runaway rollercoaster feeling. For another, the job she turns out to have been hired for—leading an investigation her new boss doesn’t feel he can entrust to his own force—makes her queasy. Meanwhile, a wealthy divorcée plunges, in suspicious circumstances, from an apartment block in Munich. The mounting evidence of ever more and ever worse skulduggery will pull Tempe deeper and deeper down what even she sees as a rabbit hole before she confronts a ringleader implicated in “Drugs. The fifteenth Detective Superintendent Roy Grace novel from the highly acclaimed number one bestselling author, Peter James.A fatal car accident that was anything but accidental has jarred loose a stash of methamphetamines and cash that’s become the center of a battle between the Sons of Freedom, Bakken County’s traditional drug sellers, and MS-13, the Salvadorian upstarts who are muscling in on their territory. The Grace stories almost always go to the top of the bestseller lists, not least because they are supremely well-told.
