About this deal

The first book in the series – Monsters in the Dark – is where we first meet the mini monsters. We made sure to read this one during the day and not at night. This is due to the fact Floss can be quite a sensitive soul. There’s a range of adventures that Billy and his monsters go on and they are set in ‘real life’ opportunities children may find themselves in such as going to school, a party or swimming. Everyday settings where extraordinary things happens are so exciting for young children. There are also a couple of holiday books including a Halloween edition and a Christmas one. The Monsters He is full of all the usual anxieties children face at this stage. One of which is the fear of the dark.

It's Halloween and Billy can't wait for the village Halloween Party. There's just one problem... his Mini Monsters are at the party too! Sparkle-Bogey's in the apple bobbing, Trumpet's in a pumpkin and Gloop's playing 'Guess the Body Part'. Can Billy find his monsters before anyone else does? Or will it be up to Peep to save the day? This is a theme that echoes throughout all of the books as we discover the latest antics of Billy and his loveable monsters.

Another laugh-out-loud FULL COLOUR monster adventure in the Billy and the Mini Monsters chapter book series, perfect for newly independent readers aged 6+ and fans of Claude and Horrid Henry. Billy and the Mini Monsters are published by Usborne, written by Zanna Davidson and illustrated by Melanie Williamson. I describe these as a hybrid between picture books and chapter books with a spoonful of graphic novel thrown in for good measure. They are highly readable and oodles of fun. As you can see from these inside images, the text is a good size, the paragraphs are well spaced out and the illustrations help to develop comprehension alongside the reading of new vocabulary in a structured way. This combination makes Billy and the Mini Monster books look very inviting for early readers. Billy hates swimming. It's cold and wet and horrible. And just when Billy thinks things can't get any worse, his pet Mini Monsters turn up at his swimming lesson and make one very big SPLASH... Billy is an ordinary boy with extraordinary pets – the mini monsters. These include Captain Snott, Gloop, Fang-Face, Trumpet, Peep and Sparkle-Bogey.

As part of our collaboration with Usborne Publishing during October 2021, we are giving away a set of six Billy and the Mini Monsters books to five schools in the UK.It's Billy's best friend's birthday, and the Mini Monsters have come to the party too! Gloop gets mixed up with the jelly, Fang-Face is after the cake and Trumpet's been swept away by a balloon. Billy can't save them all on his own, but who can he turn to for help? Join Billy and the Mini Monsters in this laugh-out-loud adventure series for young readers, with colourful illustrations throughout. One aspect that I believe firmly appeals to so many children is that the books are interspersed with graphic novel/ comic style strips to tell the story. It’s often when we get the BEST monster action. Billy's moving house! But the Mini Monsters have got lost on the way. How will Billy ever find them again? And to add to the confusion, it turns out there's a NEW monster on the scene... An exciting addition to Young Reading Series Two, for readers who are growing in confidence. Billy is learning how to take care of the planet, and the Mini Monsters want to help too... so they join the school trip to the recycling centre. But what will happen when Gloop falls into the recycling machine? Another laugh-out-loud Billy and the Mini Monsters story, with a strong underlying message about looking after the planet. Billy and the Mini Monsters is a brilliant laugh-out-loud adventure series. The funny stories, colourful illustrations and simple text make it a perfect read for newly independent and reluctant readers.

This series is one of our daughter Floss’s favourites. She’s loved them since she was around four years old and still adores them now aged six. It's Billy's school camping trip. His worst nightmare is having to go to the TOILET in the DARK. What if he gets lost in the SCARY WOODS? What if there are WEREWOLVES? Or BEARS? The Mini Monsters decide to brush up on their camping skills and come along too, in case Billy needs their help. Which he definitely does... for it's not long before his worst nightmare comes true.If you’d like to find out more about this type of book and others like it head to my blog post – Reading Chapter Books – What to Read after Picture Books? Awesome Appeal – Billy and the Mini Monsters Billy's Mini Monsters really want to go to school with him. But Billy really doesn't want them to. He s got enough trouble with the school bully, Basil Brown. But perhaps having MONSTERS around will be more helpful than Billy imagines Meet Billy and the Mini Monsters in this laugh-out-loud adventure series for young readers, with colourful illustrations throughout. Billy is off to the seaside for fun, sandcastles...and monster-stealing gulls, in another laugh-out-loud adventure centred around first experiences This worry is soon dispelled when we realise that the mini monsters are actually super cute, totally fun and helpful – even if sometimes their help goes a little awry. Billy discovers the monsters in the dark at bedtime and he’s a little worried when he thinks there is something in the dark (hence the reason we read it in the day to Floss).
