About this deal

Overall, the nutritional profile of Kendamil was excellent, coming in near or above FDA and USDA guidelines, which was nice to see and made us feel comfortable using this to not only supplement but also possibly replace breast milk entirely (talk to your doctor first, of course!). From my extensive research including conversations with the Kendamil team, I am confident that this unique formula sets a new standard for natural, traceable and organic formulas. Nannycare Stage 3 Ingredients:Pasteurised whole goat milk, lactose (from milk), vegetable oil blend (high oleic sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, antioxidants (sunflower lecithin, tocopherol-rich extract), pasteurized goat milkpowders, marine fishoil powder (source of docosahexaenoic acid), minerals, choline chloride, L-tyrosine, L-tryptophan, L-cystine, vitamins, L-isoleucine, taurine, L-carnitine. In our review of the Nannycare Stage 1 formula, using a 1.515 multiplier relative to their nutrition facts label (to equal 100kcal of formula), we found that the Nannycare Stage 1 infant formula met all of the minimum FDA nutritional requirements (and did not exceed any of their maximums).

Unlike other formulas that may contain DHA and ALA, Kendamil Goat Stage 2 only contains naturally occurring plant derived DHA from marine algae, meaning it is also suitable for vegetarian diets (while still containing Omega-3 and 6 LCPs which are important for eye and brain development). Both of the infants who tried Stage 1 seemed to take to it immediately without any acceptance issues. In looking at the USDA recommendations for infants 6-12 months of age, you realize that they recommend about 140-150g/day of formula. That equates to about 32 scoops (4.6g/scoop) per day, which is about 960mL per day of the prepared Stage 2 formula. Clearly, that's a ton of formula and unlikely to be the case with your 6-12 month-old baby, since you'll likely be supplementing formula with at least some oatmeal and/or rice cereal. Number of feedings is based on Kendamil Classic Infant Milk’s suggested feeding frequency in a 24 hour period for infants between 1-5 months of age. Kendamil uses the full cream nutrient from cow’s whole milk to provide a source of naturally-occurring proteins, and on top of that, uses no soy ingredients (no soy oil, no soy lecithin and no soy protein). Why does this matter? Research has shown that too much soy in infancy can have negative effects later in life. #6 | LACTOSE AS THE CARBOHYDRATEWe generally recommend a transition period of 7-14 days to allow your baby’s digestive system to completely adjust to a new formula, even if you are simply moving to another stage of the same formula brand. Gas, constipation, and fussiness are fairly common reactions to a new formula. Because of this, we recommend introducing the new formula gradually by slowly swapping bottles of the current or “old” formula with Kendamil, starting with the midday feeds first and not the feeds before bed. This schedule can be alternated a bit based on the number of feedings. as some infants will feed for more or fewer feeds than indicated below: In looking at the USDA recommendations for infants 6-12 months of age, you realize that they recommend about 140-150g/day of formula. That equates to about 34 scoops (4.3g/scoop) per day, which is about 1115mL per day of the prepared Stage 2 formula. Kendamil has become a household name in the UK and throughout Europe, with family-owned British raised organic farms, this manufacturer goes above and beyond to source only the cleanest ingredients into their formulas. A 100% goat's milk based formula, Kendamil Goat Stage 2 encompasses 58 years of industry experience from Kendamil, and maintains a UK Red Tractor certification for its high level of food standards quality by not using any hormones or antibiotics while rearing its animals.

MINERALS: Sodium citrate, dicalcium phosphate, calcium citrate, calcium hydroxide, potassium chloride, ferrous sulphate, zinc sulphate, copper sulphate, manganese sulphate, potassium iodide, sodium selenite. Nannycare formulas are made in New Zealand by a company called Dairy Goat Co-operative Ltd, which is located in Hamilton, New Zealand. Most of the companies have come and gone, some were pushed out by new FDA labeling requirements for European formulas, and some couldn't maintain their supply chain logistics and tended to ship expired or poorly handled formulas.

Note: Kendamil recently launched a high quality goat milk formula for infants that follows the same farming practices as they use for their cows. See this guide for more information on the best goat milk formula (including Kendamil Goat). #2 | NATURAL & HEALTHY FATS, NO PALM OIL For the first time in an organic infant formula, Kendamil has verified the presence of HMOs in Kendamil Organic through the use of High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), which identified the presence of 3’-GL , 4’-GL and 6’-GL. All three of these HMOs are found in mothers’ colostrum after birth. 3’-GL has been proven in ex-vivo laboratory studies conducted by Utrecht University to protect the lining of the intestine of infants, shielding them from inflammation and benefitting their immune system. Where Can You Find and Buy This Formula? The use of locally sourced ingredients from the Lake District and other local regions will provide some intangible benefits for the quality of their infant and toddler formulas. While these benefits may not appear on an ingredients label, this usually means that there is a lower risk of the products containing all the nasty stuff you don't want to occur (even in trace amounts), like pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics, or heavy metals. Omega 3 fats are essential to healthy infant development, which is why most formulas include DHA/ARA in some form (or, if they don’t, you have to supplement). Most formulas use fish oil as their source of DHA, which technically makes the formula not vegetarian or vegan friendly.
