About this deal

This one made me laugh, but it also made me cry. I knew it was going to happen, I saw it coming, but I still wasn’t ready. I also felt like there were so many side plots being woven into the story, and no real solution was given in the end. Nor were there explanations to things that were mentioned and used throughout the story. Which I hope the next book answers. And then the—the octopus things.” Mori wiped at her eyeliner with a manicured finger. “What did she call them?” Me, My Dad and the End of the Rainbow (Simon & Schuster Children’s Books) by Benjamin Dean is out now. A thought-provoking YA novel which describes the changing relationship between two LGBT teenagers, as they explore new worlds at university and their own shifting gender identities.

Having not read the precious books, I was worried I'd be lost, but it the additional stories didn't impact this one too much, so it was still a fun read!

This is good. However, it's nowhere near as good as #2, which I thought would have made for a phenomenal Doctor Who episode, and there are WAY too many characters in the "finale" of the book. At one point I genuinely couldn't separate certain characters. I especially could have done without the addition of Danser, whose only character trait seemed to be his nicotine addiction. I wish we could have seen more of Tristyan. With her wife Vik, Jen Brown – who works in education data analysis and research – is raising four children aged eight to 12. She stresses “the importance, particularly to children in their formative years, of being able to see yourself and your reality reflected in the books that you’re reading. Without it, you can be turned off a love of reading and that has impacts on your educational outcomes and future prospects.” The Strangeworlds Travel Agency turns out to be a classic portal fantasy, allowing access to places beyond our own mundane existence, places where magic exists and may be made visible when looking through a special magnifying glass. Do you remember Newt Scamander's case from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them? Just like Newt's container the suitcases of the agency open up to allow one to enter not merely an expanded TARDIS-like space but alien worlds; and yet like those viewed by Will in The Subtle Knife not all worlds are like Earth, nor are they without peril. We’ll do better, next time,” Hudspeth interrupted dismissively, helping his wife to her feet. “You all right, Mori?”

Imagine stepping into a suitcase and ending up in a jungle, or an enchanted forest, or a bright, bustling city filled with magic. Because that’s The Strangeworlds Travel Agency, the first book in a new series. Sorry.” Hudspeth raised his hands. “Jonathan… Mr. Mercator… We’re sorry. We got it in Five Lights, and thought it might be useful.” As you can see, a lot of good, a lot of love… but sadly also things I just wasn’t happy with. For now it is going to be 3 stars as I still enjoyed reading it, and I was happy to see all the worlds and see the characters grow. This ability takes on a meaning beyond being a bit of fun when Jonathan divulges that his dad has gone missing somewhere out there and he desperately wants to find him. This picture book for younger readers - all about a kid called Julian who wants to be a mermaid but is worried what his grandmother might think - is understated and delicate and yet so breathtakingly gorgeous. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and the book itself is an incredible example of storytelling,” Benjamin said.David Piper has always been an outsider, labelled a freak by the school bully. Only his two best friends know the real truth – David wants to be a girl. The Seren really don't feel like much of a threat. First because we're told a lot, but not shown a lot, which is always a buzzkill. Second, there only seemed to be one main Seren dude, which kinda defeats the purpose of there being an entire group that has been a threat for so long. Third, because quite frankly... they are boring villains. Their whole motivation is 'we want to live forever' and only at the end we suddenly get a slightly more interesting line about 'eliminating all non-magic folk so magic peeps can reign supreme', but that was literally one line at the very end, why???? Then there was the fact that the travel agency had no fancy posters of Disneyland, or the Algarve, or anywhere else you might have wanted to visit. There were no posters at all, in fact. Only a few globes and atlases. And something that was like a globe, except the sphere was shaped more like a pear than a ball.

Nicc has a special place in my heart. I love that little Thief. I thought at first she may turn out to be a baddie (like the Overseer) but she turned out to be a sweet girl who was just trying to make a living. I thought that the ending was totally satisfying with all the loose ends tied up in a brilliantly organised conclusion. This was a fantastic finale to a wonderful series. Mám hodnotiť knihu spôsobom, že si položím otázku, čo môže dať desaťročnému čitateľovi? Alebo ju budem hodnotiť z pohľadu dvadsaťtri ročnej ženy? The writing at times is reminicent of Diana Wynne Jones... Utterly delightful.' - Kirkus Starred ReviewTaking your responsibilities seriously, I see,” Hudspeth said, with grudging admiration. “No offense meant, er…”

Perhaps, before things become too complicated, we should clarify precisely why this young man was so skeptical about the Strangeworlds Travel Agency. L. D. Lapinski lives just outside Sherwood Forest with their family, a lot of books, and a cat called Hector. L. D. first wrote a book aged seven; it was made of lined paper and sellotape, and it was about a frog who owned an aeroplane. When L. D. grows up, they want to be a free-range guinea pig farmer. Jolly’s not the word I’d use.” The woman, Mori, ruffled her hair and lifted a pair of glasses to her face, before taking them off and trying a second pair which she kept on, apparently liking them better. “The weather’s taken a turn for the worse—you wouldn’t believe the size of the waves. There was talk of ships being blown off the edge of the map entirely.” I finished this book last month, but needed some time with it to digest. This review won’t contain plot or spoilers as you MUST read the first two, and ideally come to the third with no spoilers for the full experience.
