This is a recently published, meticulously researched, and currently relevant account of the UFO/UAP phenomenon. Raphael Ramirez ( Cristián de la Fuente): Mary's former fiancé, commonly known as "Raph", a Dominican minor-league baseball player for the Albuquerque Isotopes until injuries forced his retirement. His relationship with Mary was complicated for a time when he became close to her sister Brandi. After Mary was kidnapped by drug dealers, Raph disposed of a suitcase full of drugs Brandi brought to Albuquerque, which Mary eventually discovers. When they become engaged, Mary tells Raph what she does for a living, which proves difficult for Raph to understand. Raph is aware of Mary's doubts about marriage, which finally leads to his decision to call off their engagement. In the final season, Mary runs into Raph, who tells her he is now married, and his wife and he meet Mary for dinner. Later, Raph stops by and wishes Mary well with her life, parting on good terms.

I also think that the book fails to contextualise things properly: Lue Elizondo is a CIA spook who has claimed to have remote viewing powers, Linda Moulton Howe is a True Believer in every sense, Hal Puthoff has endorsed just about every paranormal phenomenon you could name, Leslie Kean is obsessed with mediums and the afterlife, and ditto for Robert Bigelow. It becomes easier to understand how so much deep lore has grown from the real events once you know what these people are like. The whole Savile story broke a little while after his death in 2011. I was living in London at the time and didn't know much about who he was - but the story was everywhere and continued for months as more victims come forward. Dan Davies was probably part way through writing this biography when Savile died in Oct 2011 and therefore In Plain Sight is a strange mix of standard biography smushed together with the story of the revelations/investigations/police-and-political-coverups of his widespread abuse of minors. A career of abuse that spanned 60 odd years.

What came over to me most strongly from reading this book was that JS was a hugely manipulative individual – cultivating the parents of young teenage girls so that they thought nothing of it when he went off on his own with their daughters. When the girls subsequently told their parents of the assaults they were not believed because JS was a friend and wouldn’t do anything like that. Compelled to investigate, Coulthart has embarked on what's become the most confronting and challenging story of his career, speaking to witnesses, researchers, scientists, spies and defence and intelligence officials and insiders. What he has found suggests that the world is on the cusp of extraordinary technological breakthroughs and cultural revelations. Also surrounded in mystery, 'Oumamama has raised many eyebrows, and captivated the minds of many prominent astronomers, including Israeli-American theoretical physicist and Harvard professor Avi Loeb. Loeb covers 'Oumamama in-depth in his 2021 book Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth, which was a great look into the topic. Loeb notes that - most interestingly - the object entered the solar system from an unusual direction, had very strange and unnatural dimensions, orbited the sun, and then experience non-gravitational acceleration on its way out of our solar system. Loeb makes an impassioned case for more research going forward.

He covers the recent history over the last few years, including tom Delong's role in forming to the Stars and the key players involved with this. There is speculation in the larger sphere about the timing of various goverment initiatives around UFOs, like admiting they exist and they are not weather balloons or mass hysteria, the realeasing of real videos of actual events, the renaming of them from UFOs to AUVs. By admitting that no-one seems to know what they are.
