About this deal

Pernod Ricard collected two Silver medals in this flight for Beefeater Pink Light and Beefeater Light. “This is an interesting category as there is still a decent amount of ABV,” noted Chambers at the end of the flight. “This helps to drive the flavours and aromas – some decent products on show.” When Malfy Gin teamed up with Booking Office 1869 in London to create an Amalfi inspired summer terrace, it was inevitable that there would be a Spritz on the menu. The Coastal Spritz makes use of Malfy Con Limone, alongside apple juice, lemonade and English wine Balfour Brut. This sponsorship has been reinforced with targeted regional out-of-home (OOH) advertising, which will further cement and encourage recognition of Everleaf as the ‘non-alcoholic Spritz of choice’. With the tasting complete, the judges reset their palates in preparation for the Taste Master assessment. All of the Master winners were repoured for each judge, who was tasked with choosing their favourite low‐and-no product from the day. With the majority of the votes, The Low & No Taste Master 2023 title was bestowed upon De Kuyper Zero 0% Margarita. From the first whisky distillery in North Wales in more than 100 years comes another Master medal winner. The Aber Falls single malt wowed our judges with its softness and “luscious tropical notes of bananas”.

Founded by conservation biologist and bartender Paul Mathew in 2019, the Everleaf portfolio consists of three expressions, each of which is anchored to different parts of the natural world: Forest, Marine and Mountain. We think it’s worth knowing that each Everleaf flavour has a similar viscosity to an alcoholic spirit and if like us, you’ve tried tons of alternatives, you’ll know this is no mean feat. The winner will be announced at the show on Tuesday 5 July and will receive an Everleaf Spritz kit full of Everleaf goodies to create summer Spritzes. British non-alcoholic apéritif brand Everleaf has made its debut in the US. The Everleaf expressions are designed to represent three areas of the natural world

The verdict: Alcohol-free spirits

But since the rise of the Aperol Spritz around the world in recent years, both bartenders and brands have been pushing the boundaries of the Spritz, meaning there’s no shortage of options nowadays. It offers a simple yet effective blueprint for creating twists on the classic, and for showcasing various brands too, not only aperitif-style drinks but flavoured spirits and more. This is particularly prevalent during the warmer months – Spritzes are synonymous with the summer, after all. In the Non‐Alcoholic Liqueur (less than 0.5% ABV) flight, Silk Cream Liq.eur with Maca Concept from Creamy Creation (B2B) received a Gold medal. Kiely’s panel noted the “vanilla aroma, custard‐like”, and found the palate to be “well‐textured, indulgently creamy, and very good”. High-quality options are growing for lower-alcohol dark ‘spirits’ In keeping with the names, each are inspired by places, and mountain is labelled as vibrant and aromatic, forest as complex and bittersweet, while marine is said to be crisp and refreshing. We also found handy mixing instructions on the reverse, outlining measurement ratios with tonic, fruit slices and ice. Our tester thought this was a particularly nice touch. We’re excited to see what else is to come from this young distillery, which sits at the foot of the famous Aber Falls waterfall that acts as the gateway of the beautiful Snowdonia national park. What we do know is they will continue to do Wales very proud.

Highclere Castle Gin is bottled at 43.3% ABV, and the owners recently launched a multi-million-dollar crowdfunding campaign to boost their namesake gin globally. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{ Wondering what a non-alcoholic spirit actually is? The term essentially covers both distilled botanicals filtered not once, but twice, to remove the alcohol through evaporation, and macerated and extracted botanicals made without the introduction of alcohol. Other types use no alcohol whatsoever, using more inventive techniques like steam distillation. By definition, non-alcoholic refers to any drink with less than 0.5% alcohol by volume (or ABV). Simply put, the alcohol can't build up in your blood as your body processes it nearly as fast as you drink it. Take a pint of 0.5% beer, for example, which sits at about 0.28 units of alcohol, and has roughly the same ABV as a very ripe banana. Yep.Transporting you to the white sand beaches of the Seychelles, Takamaka’s creamy white expression, Rum Blanc, was awarded a Gold medal for its “light tropical aromas”. As part of the summer campaign, the brand has also partnered with key chefs, restaurants and ‘foodie’ influencers to showcase the ‘Perfect Everleaf Spritz pairings’ across experiential events and digital channels. L-R: Grace Dent with Everleaf founder, Paul Mathew The third group consisted of: Rosie Lees, co‐founder and director of Nineteen94; Sara Jane Eichler, founder of Negroni Club UK; and Matt Chambers, spirits writer and cofounder of the Whisky for Everyone blog, who chaired. Nine Gold medals gave this round a boost, with winners including: “refreshing, balanced and slightly sweet” De Kuyper Fizzy Watermelon; Fluère RTD Negroni, with “soft bitters, sweet orange” aromas; and “crowd‐pleaser” De Kuyper Fizzy Peachtree, which did “exactly what it says on the tin”. Non-alcoholic apéritif brand Everleaf has launched its Summer of Spritz campaign to reinforce the brand’s positioning as ‘the alcohol-free spritz of choice’. Everleaf is the official non-alcoholic sponsor of Pub In The Park

Uresti said: “There were some amazing products in this flight, and we saw the category not involving too much sugar or acids, but finding a way to balance both.”

The verdict: Everleaf collection pack

Lauded by one of our judges for its “fruity nose with berries, a little bit of sweetness, and good texture”, this gin was the first spirit to be awarded a Master medal in the day of tasting. Smith was just as excited about this round. He noted: “Some superb products that really encapsulates their alcoholic counterparts, balance of sweetness and sourness.” Everleaf has also been named as the official non-alcoholic sponsor of The Pig Hotel Group’s Smoked and Uncut festivals, as well as all nine of chef Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park festivals, where attendees will be able to enjoy a range of the brand’s Spritzes at its two-story bar.
