In Japan, it debuted at number 10, selling over 20,000 copies in its first week on the Oricon album charts. So, you can understand why you might want to listen to something in stereo, especially if you're listening on a pair of earbuds, for example. Stereo recordings were a fairly new concept for pop music in the 1960s and did not become standard until nearly the end of that decade. Unsurprisingly, this is because stereo is a really good audio format, and we know how to engineer in stereo really well by now.

Released in 1982, The Beatles Mono Collection is a boxed set of all Beatles' albums which were originally issued on mono LPs in the UK ( Please Please Me to Yellow Submarine). Surround sound is a real thing and so is spatial audio, that's true, but stereo is still the dominant format. A significant amount of musicality just evaporates instantly when you load up a stereo version of an early Beatles track.

The Revolver to white album series of records have the "tubey" cool shimmer of the originals which I lack on the 2014 lp's. The set was released on compact disc on 9 September 2009, the same day the remastered stereo recordings and companion The Beatles (The Original Studio Recordings) were also released, along with The Beatles: Rock Band video game.

They've mostly been focusing on selling new digital stereo remixes of the old Beatles albums done by Giles Martin. Also omitted from this set, but included in the stereo box set, is a DVD containing the mini-documentaries included with the stereo remasters of the different albums. A new Mono Box, containing remastered monoural versions of the Beatles' core albums (with the exception of Yellow Submarine album) plus Mono Masters compilation, was released on 9 September 2009 along with Stereo Box and new stereo reissues of the individual albums, including the first four albums given their stereo debuts on CD. The vinyl set includes a 108-page book which also includes many rare photographs of the Beatles in Abbey Road Studio, fascinating EMI archive documents and evocative articles sourced from 1960s publications. Mono Masters is a compilation album by the Beatles, and is an alternate, all-mono version of the album Past Masters.All of the USA albums were released individually on CDs containing both the mono and original stereo mixes; this is the only other way to acquire the mono mixes on CD. Of course, the bigger version with the records is more desirable but this is pretty good alternative too :). All CDs replicate their original album labels as first released, from the various Parlophone Records label variations, to the Capitol Records label (for Magical Mystery Tour) and the UK Apple Records side A and B labels for discs 1 and 2 respectively for The Beatles. If something was originally recorded and made for mono, then later trying to reprocess it for stereo isn’t necessarily going to produce better results, sometimes the result could be a disaster.
