Though I was pretty sure I knew how it would end, it played out slightly differently than I anticipated.The Lost Ones is a blend of genres – historical fiction with a mix of supernatural – and it worked extremely well. I lost a lot of sleep once I got into this book as I couldn't think of anything else, so this makes it a fab read in my opinion. The period is late Edwardian, near the end of the First World War, and we are in the era of the decline of the country house: the downfall of Downton.

They thought that a change of scene might help her, and an interesting opportunity presented itself. While the menfolk mostly occupy the background, there are still notable male characters present in Gerald, whose courtship of Stella we see in sweet romantic flashbacks, and Mr Sheers who is brought in to debunk the idea of ghosts and hauntings. The shield mysteriously went down, allowing the Lost One to enter; however, it was a ploy by the Beyonder to trap the Lost One on Earth as a new prison. Mostly because the ending reached a fever pitch rather quickly and things came off feeling very frantic and harried. Also the story brings out the mentality of small town folks perfectly and flawlessly and i bet readers can easily contemplate with that part. Jack finds clues to his sister's abduction and the twin murders but that throws him on the harm's way and within no time, he finds the diary of the murdered couple's missing daughter that says a lot about the night of that murder.
