If other rooms in your home are uncomfortable while your temperature sensor is active, you may want to simply change the temperature on your thermostat a few degrees until you find a temperature balance that feels good throughout your home. While a temperature sensor can help keep you more comfortable, your system will probably need to work a bit harder when your sensor is scheduled to be active. So you might notice an increase in energy use in your thermostat’s energy historyand your monthly Nest Home Report.

We'll also more clearly explain what types of information these sensors send to Google, as well as examples of how we use that information, to help you understand their purpose better. If you have a zoned system, make sure you place your temperature sensors in the same zone as the thermostat they’re connected to. For example, if your thermostat controls the first floor of your home, make sure to place your sensor on the first floor. Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Nest Mini, Google Home Max, Nest Hub, Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Google Nest Audio, Nest Thermostat The Nest Thermostat has a feature called Farsight on board that will display one of a number of options when you are nearby. This feature can also be turned off so the Thermostat's display only comes on if you approach it, or off entirely until you press it. On the Nest app: Tap on the Thermostat circle > Tap on the Schedule tab at the bottom of the display > Tap once on the day you want to change a temperature or time in > Press and hold on the orange temperature icon you want to change > Slide up or down to change the temperature / Slide left or right to change the time.

Unfortunately, this is all that can be done to diagnose the issue without a higher level of expertise. However, we would not recommend taking anything apart unless you are absolutely confident that you know what you are doing.

Setup and Installation

Some entries will have small icons to the right of the orange bar. A person in a circle means your adjustment caused energy usage above or below the weekly average. A cloud in a circle means the weather caused energy usage above or below the weekly average. If there is a blue house with a location arrow in it, Home/Away Assist changed your energy usage. Allows you to talk to the Google Assistant, navigate apps on your TV and provide voice input to apps. Hit ok to finish up and then wait for a few minutes while the device boots up again. Once it is done, it should immediately remember what it has been programmed to do. Allow you to stream music playing on your Google speaker or display to your favourite Bluetooth-enabled speakers or headphones. If you install the sensor too high or too low, your system may overheat or overcool the roombecause it’s responding to the wrong temperature.
