About this deal

The MEAZOR 6-in-1 Laser Measure tool worked reasonably well and has several modes of operation that provides some useful functionality. For instance, one wall was actually 124-15/16″ long, and the calculation in the app stated this was 124.

You can tilt it to reach the corners if there's furniture in the way, and if you have to move it to reach all of them you can align the Meazor to its new location by rescanning a couple of the corners you've already measured – or so the manual claims.Making sure the Bluetooth on your phone is on, select the the three bars icon in the upper left corner of the screen, and select the gear symbol to open settings. First, the touchscreen is not very sensitive (at least not to my fingers) and requires slow and deliberate actions for swiping and selecting. It has six core functions that ensure you have the correct tool when you need it, these include a floor/wall-point scanner, scale roller/converter, laser measure, curve scanner, protractor and level. But considering that it might be time for an upgrade, I jumped at the chance to try the MEAZOR 6-In-1 Compact Laser Measure tool made by Hozo Design. MEAZOR app is a multifunctional tool where you can draw, edit, and save unlimited floorplans and measuring results with high productivity.

If you do get this to work, you can build a simple floorplan and export it as a PDF, JOG or DXF file – pick the latter and you can use it in a real CAD package. Three new added modes come with Space/Volume Auto Calculation, 2D to 3D floorplan display and label measurements directly onto the snapped object. However, there are several issues with the other modes of operation, such as a level mode that requires calibration to a level surface, and a Pythagorean mode that isn’t well suited to a vertical measurement.Having to send data points one by one means juggling the two devices whatever you're measuring: it may not be convenient to pull your phone out over and over again on a building site. Additionally, it offers a range of editing and processing tools, allowing users to manipulate and refine their 3D models or simply export to a CAD file to be used in conjunction with other popular software. Also, since the tripod attaches to the wheel, the device can be rotated as required 360 degrees, which is essential for the point and curve scanner functions. Note that a straight edge protractor attachment is also available to allow direct measurement without the laser (this attachment has to be purchased separately from Hozo Design).

I suppose you could use an actual bubble level to help calibrate this tool, but that seems to kind of defeat the purpose, doesn’t it?Post moderation is undertaken full-time 9am-6pm on weekdays, and on a part-time basis outwith those hours. Oddly though, the imperial measurements are decimals rather than the fractions commonly used on measuring tapes, so you get 9.

The laser measurer is accurate and can cope with long distances, as long as it's not too bright: we measured up to 15 meters comfortably, but struggled to reach the promised 25m.We tried again and somehow ended up with four doors on the floorplan, so this is a function that will need practice. Secondly, most architects, engineers, or builders would not need to do this because most drawings have dimensions. This is my simple room map in AutoCAD which would allow me to develop a more detailed drawing of the room. Point Scanner – It took some time for me to figure out how to use this mode, but once I did I found that it worked reasonably well. It’s a costly piece of kit that will limit its take-up to professionals and only the most dedicated hobbyists.
