About this deal

Diameter x length (extension from lens mount)- Approx. 72 mm/2.9 in. (maximum diameter) x 18.5 mm/0.8 in. (distance from camera lens mount flange); overall length 37 mm/1.5 in. Its power distribution is designed for lenses of large diameter. Without affecting the lens performance, it offers stable image quality even to the corners. The rich peripheral brightness enables shooting quality images at every focal length. It is dust and splash-proof and designed for higher durability. SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports and other telephoto lenses are able to meet the demands that professional photographers would require in severe shooting conditions, such as in the rain. Nikon introduced two new teleconverters with its professional Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S telephoto zoom: The Z TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x teleconverters are designed for Nikon’s Z-series mirrorless cameras and corrected for full-frame sensors. Teleconverters are mounted between the lens and the camera body and magnify the image by 1.4x or 2.0x thus effectively increasing the focal length of each lens by the same amount. Unfortunately lenses have to be designed to work with teleconverters and currently the Nikon Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S is the only lens which can be used with Nikon’s new TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x. But Nikon will certainly add more lenses to their Z line-up in the future which can use teleconverters.

The teleconverters come with a pouch that’s just as flimsy as the pouch of the Z lenses and has no strings to pull it close. [0]When SIGMA TELE CONVERTER TC-1401 is attached to cameras that are compatible with AF at F8, it is possible to shoot with AF. In cases where contrast or brightness level of the shooting object is low, it may not focus properly. Desert Floor as Seen from Six Miles (10 km) Away, 2:20 PM, Thursday, 10 November 2022. Nikon Z7II, Nikon Z 400mm f/4.5 VR wide-open at f/4.5 hand-held at 1/ 1,250 at Auto ISO 64 ( LV15.3), Radiant Photo Software to cut through the haze. bigger or full resolution. The Nikon Z teleconverters don’t have any external moving parts – no buttons, dials, or controls, aside from the lens mounting/dismounting switch. Thanks to their small size, it’s easy to forget the TCs are attached to your lens, especially the 1.4x TC. Today, I’ll be reviewing Nikon’s first teleconverters for the Z mirrorless system: the TC-1.4x and TC-2.0x. These two teleconverters multiply your focal length by 1.4× and 2.0× respectively, with the usual loss of light. How do the Nikon Z TCs hold up in practice? I’ll answer in this review. NIKON Z 9 + NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S Z TC-1.4x @ 560mm, ISO 250, 1/2500, f/8.0 A final issue with teleconverters is image quality. As you’ll see throughout this review, teleconverters reduce image quality in various ways – some subtle and some obvious. Even an optically perfect teleconverter would lose sharpness because it’s magnifying the flaws of the original lens. Not to mention that you’re losing additional sharpness due to diffraction. If your new maximum aperture is something like f/9 or f/11, you will not reach the sharpness level of excellent lenses that peak around f/4. NIKON Z 7 + NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Z TC-1.4x @ 1120mm, ISO 500, 1/2500, f/9.0

As the NIKKOR Z lens line-up expands, your options for using the Z TELECONVERTER TC-1.4x will grow. Turn a telephoto zoom lens into a super telephoto. Extend the reach of a prime lens without affecting image performance. However you see the world, your options for using the Z TELECONVERTER TC-1.4x will grow. You’re working with less light when you use a teleconverter, and the focus performance of your camera system may suffer as a result. It gets worse in low-light environments, especially when your maximum aperture drops to narrow values like f/8, f/11, or even smaller. The Sigma 1.4x teleconverter seems to be a pretty solid choice for Sigma lenses. As you can see from this review, it works very well with the new Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 Sport lens and shows impressive performance when stopped down to f/5.6 range and smaller. It is a very compact teleconverter that only weighs 160 grams, so you could leave it on the 120-300mm f/2.8 lens without adding much more weight. It is important to point out that the above percentages are only for the center of the frame. If you look at the numbers, you will notice that the teleconverters impact mid-frame and corner performance differently. This is due to the fact that the extreme corners magnify lens aberrations heavily. In the case of the Nikon TC-20E III, the lens sharpness was much worse compared to the center at 43% sharpness loss.

The TCs principally work with lenses corrected for full-frame sensors or smaller. Unfortunately the Nikon teleconverters don’t work with every Z lens: only the Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S can be used with TCs so far. [0] It's a mild 1.4× teleconverter so it doesn't have any difference in practical image quality or autofocus speed, but on the other hand it doesn't give much more reach, either. The Nikon TC-14E AF-S Teleconverter III with 1.4x magnification increases the focal length of select Nikon lenses by 40%. Teleconverters are well-suited to use with fast prime and zoom lenses and are ideal for sports, press, and wildlife photographers who want to extend the reach of an existing lens, without spending an absolute fortune. Nikon reserves the right to change the appearance, specifications, and performance of this product at any time and without prior notice. Image stabilization, auto focus, additional functions: Everything works as expected as the teleconverters don’t interfere with the functions and features of the attached lens. EXIF data for focal length and aperture are adapted and the identifier for the lens also reflects the use of TCs. Even the display of the Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S shows the correct values for aperture and focal length. [+]The 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF supports the TC-201 and the TC-14A (occasional vignetting) & TC-14B (AF not possible).
