Tears are produced by several systems, and if any part of these systems break down, it can result in a reduced quality or quantity of tears. You must speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. They contain sodium hyaluronate, a natural substance found in the eye, which forms a protective layer over the surface of the eye, trapping in moisture and preventing the eye from drying out. Do not wear soft contact lenses while you are using the drops unless your doctor or pharmacist has advised you otherwise.

Artificial tears have the same consistency as natural tears and can provide lubrication to the treated eye.If you suspect that someone might have swallowed some of this medicine, contact your local accident and emergency department for advice. You should consult your doctor if you think you may have a health problem or before you start taking a new medicine.

The other ingredients are benzalkonium chloride, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment) and water for injection.If GelTears is used at the same time with other eye drops/eye ointments, there should be an application time interval of approximately 15 minutes between use of such other medications and GelTears should always be the last medication to be applied. Artificial tears or Sodium Hyaluronate eye drops provide relief to patients suffering from eye dryness and irritation. Your vision may become blurred if too much gel is added at one time, or if you use your medicine more often than is required. Some types of blepharitis are curable, but many cases are chronic (long term) and incurable and requires on-going treatment.
