About this deal

And the final story in Action Comics features Power Girl’s return in part one of a three-part story by Leah Williams and Marguerite Sauvage spinning out of Lazarus Planet. Action Comics #1051 will be available at local comic shops on January 24, 2023. So we've always kind of accustomed to seeing Metallo as essentially a Terminator. And now, starting with Action #1051 going forward, he's a Cronenberg movie monster. You're going to see that transformation start very soon.

The artwork in this story also needs a special mention. While Sandoval and Weeks’ work kind of fit together – both coming out as the somewhat grounded side of superheroics, with one (Sandoval) leaning toward the super and the other (Weeks) toward the human element, Sauvage’s work is bright, slightly whimsical and extremely pretty. It almost reminds me of something I’d see in a fantasy comic. Action Comics 1050 will feature over 25 variant covers from some of the biggest names in comics including Jim Lee, Alex Ross, Lee Weeks, Michael Allred and more. Action Comics #1050 will also feature ratio variants by Jonboy Meyes (1:25), Al Barrionuevo (1:50), Alexander Lozano (1:75), Steve Rude (1:100), Mchael Allred (1:250), Ariel Colon (1:500) and for the first time ever a 1:1050 by Jim Lee. Action Comics #1051 welcomes readers to Metropolis and immediately dives to the street level to show the disparity between the streets and the glossy skyscrapers. Tensions run amok in "Speeding Bullets, Part I" as writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson keeps the focus on one event, making it the converging point for the other narratives. He balances the overtly hostile environment with lighthearted moments of family and camaraderie. Letterer Dave Sharpe gives Lois Lane's narration a personality of its own, like an opinion piece written on a typewriter. Rafa Sandoval and Matt Herms' combined artistry is the showstopper of the issue. Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, and the others look larger than life in their updated designs. We're going to see a new villain or two, but we're also going to see really fun, dangerous, threatening, complicated takes on Superman's most iconic Rogues' Gallery.Lastly, it was announced that Superman: Son of Kal-El will end with issue #18, but fans of Jon Kent do not need to worry! Writer Tom Taylor and artist Clayton Henry will be telling new Jon Kent stories in Adventures of Superman: Jon Kent. Jon will finally get his chance to take on the man who is responsible for kidnapping and torturing him, Ultraman. The Superman of Earth-2, Val-Zod, will also play a major part in the 6-issue miniseries arriving in comic shops in March. Because of the events at the end of Warworld Apocalypse. Osul-Ra is essentially a New God now, with powers that are kind of unexplored. We don't really know what he's capable of, or what the consequences will be for this power that he now carries. Superman is going to be learning what Osul is capable of for some time, and in that regard, he's in a very similar position that his own Earth parents were in years ago. I thought that'd be really interesting to see. In this story, Perry White almost died after discovering that Clark is Superman but, in that story, he was both surprised and proud of him after hearing the truth. I'm also really excited to show the relationship between Jon and the twins in that Jon feels the weight of the lost years with his parents, and of course, his parents feel it even more. And so for Jon to see kids that were roughly his age when he left … like literally in his old bedroom … you know?

Fans in attendance at todays Superman panel at New York Comic Con were treated to an hour of discussion and news around the Last Son of Krypton from some of the biggest names in comics.
